ABSTRACT
This report is based on the industrial training at CIPET: Centre for skilling
and technical support (CSTS) Aurangabad, Providing necessary
knowledge about Solid modeling soft wares ( PRO-E CREO). The
purpose of this report is to clear the basic concepts of solid modeling
explained and the guidelines necessary for handling solid modeling
softwares.

In this training we learned about use the of one solid modeling

softwares that is PRO-E (CREO).These softwares are widely being used
in the industry for the design of various products. Using these we can
obtain the model of product pre-production. This software has a
bunch of functions which can be used extensively for designing and
creating complex objects.

In this training we got the knowledge about the Software PRO-E at

online platform (Google meet). This training duration was of 6 week

2: About Course

SOLID MODELING with the help of various softwares

Course- In plant Training on “Basic Solid Modeling using Pro-E (Creo)

This course is mainly for learning the softwares which are being used while designing
and creating models in the industry and at other applications. During this session we were
taught how one can handle these advanced softwares and create our design.
This course was conducted in online mode as per the restrictions due to the
pandemic. It was total 6 weeks of training programme and daily 1.5 hours of lecture was
scheduled. The guide use to share the screen and explain us the terms and steps to operate
the software.

3: Software Compatible

There a various software available worldwide for the purpose of solid modeling.
Software supporting both 2 & 3 dimensions are been used for this purpose. Each software
has some criteria to meet which your device used to run this software should fulfill.

Some of the most commonly used solid modeling softwares:

 CATIA
 PRO-E (CREO)
 Solidworks
 CAD

Following is the schedule which we followed-

6: About Software
CREO
Previously called as PRO-E: Professional Engineer
PRO-E was the software which was preferred over the other ones
to be taught by the guides.

Creo, the shorthand name for Creo Parametric, (formerly known as Pro Engineer) is a
powerful and intuitive 3D CAD software optimized to address the challenges
organizations face as they design, analyze, and share information with downstream
partners.

Developed by PTC, the original pioneers of parametric CAD, Creo is a powerful

foundational software supporting an integrated family of product design tools used by
thousands of manufacturers worldwide.

The Creo family of design applications, modules, and extension speak a common
language, meet the needs of different stakeholders, and truly combine parametric and
direct modeling techniques. Creo helps build bridges instead of barriers between you,
your ideas, your teammates, your partners, and your customers.

Creo Parametric 3D CAD software can easily be customized and extended through the
addition of modules and extensions, but the product family also contains stand-alone
purpose build design applications such as Creo Simulate, Creo Direct, Creo
Layout & Creo Options Modeler. Each stand-alone app serves a different purpose in
the product development process.

From concept to design to analysis, to effectively sharing your information with

downstream partners (such as manufacturing and technical publications), Creo is a
rock-solid foundation for any design group. It supports the needs of modern
manufacturing and product development organizations.
What makes Creo Parametric such a powerful product design and development tool in
your company’s quest for a competitive advantage?
There are many unique aspects of the innovative Creo product family – Here are my top
4.

Flexibility
For designers who are involved in multiple phases of the product development process,
PTC Creo provides scalable access to the right capabilities. Subscription licensing
enables to adjust and right-size their software over time.

For those involved in specific aspects of the product development process, there are
apps tailored to meet individual needs. Regardless of your role in the product
development process, you can use the right tool at the right time.

Interoperability
All of the products in the PTC Creo family speak the same language. Because of this
common language, your data flows seamlessly between different apps. This means no
more recreating work as you move through the design process and no more walls to
throw your data over.

Combined benefits of both parametric and direct modeling

PTC Creo integrates the power of both 3D CAD modeling approaches into a single
system, so you get the power and control of parametric modeling combined with the
speed and flexibility that’s only available through direct modeling.

Multi-cad Data Handling

PTC Creo includes an incredible convince ability to work with and edit data from any
CAD source. This means no recreating designs because of incompatible data, and no
need to ask your partners or customers to change CAD software systems.

7: Assignments
Assignments were given on weekly basis to the complete batch. Few of the
models from one of the file used to be assigned as the practice problems. The next
week the difficulties if any were solved by the faculty.

Here are few of the assignments which I have completed during the session-

Isometric views of 3D objects formed in CREO

8: Experiences/Challenges

Learning this software was a great experience. We came to know the

extraordinary capabilities of this software – How capable and creative this software
is. During this training period we have experienced lots of things not only about this
software on which this training was based but also some other skills and we
discussed about the assignments and their creation with our other batch mates.

Also faced some challenges like as being the first time user we didn’t find the
interface friendly at the very first glance but soon was able to work with it as we
further moved in our training period. During the guides explaining the commands
we understood it but when actually tried to follow the steps we were unable to do
so. Then we again had to has our guides to repeat the explanation. There is a lot of
difference in theoretical experience and actual practice on the software.
But overall it was a wonderful experience to get to know through about CREO
Parametric.

9: Conclusion:
In this training we learned about the CREO Parametric software .We learned
how to handle this and how we can use it to create any wanted shape or size
object. May it be a 2D or 3D objects drawing, pre or post production. This software
helps us to visualize the object how it will look in real conditions.
