VERBO TO BE (PRESENTE):

Ex: Can you open the window. I AM cold.

Neg: Carol isn’t a good student.
Int: Is Carol a good student?
Resposta curta: Yes, she is./ No, she isn’t.

PRESENT CONTINUOUS:
Usamos o presente contínuo para falarmos de algo que está acontecendo agora.
Estrutura: VERBO AUXILIAR (TO BE) + VERBO PRINCIPAL (-ING)
Ex: The children are doing their homework (as crianças estão fazendo seu trabalho de
casa).
Neg: The children aren’t doing their homework.
Are the children doing their homework?
Yes, they are./ no, they aren’t.
A) Mudança na grafia de alguns verbos:
Come- coming
Run – running
lie – lying
Die – dying
Study – studying
Play – playing

SIMPLE PRESENT:

Usamos o presente simples para coisas que são verdadeiras em geral, que acontecem
todos os dias ou o tempo todo. Usamos os advérbios de tempo Always/ never/ often/
sometimes/ usually. Verbos auxiliares : DO ou DOES.
Ex: I like big cites.
Neg: I don’t like big cities.
Int: Do you like big cities?

EX: He gets up at 7 o’clock every day.


Neg: He doesn’t get up at 7 o’clock every day.
Int: Does he get up at 7 o’clock every day?
Yes, he does./ No, he doesn’t.
A) Mudança na grafia de alguns verbos, quando estão na 3ª pessoa do singular, ou
seja, HE, SHE ou IT:
- Depois das terminações (-S), (-CH), (-SH) e (-O) use
(–ES):
Ex: Pass – passes
Go – Goes
Watch – watches
Wash – washes

- Verbo terminado em Y, precedido de consoante, retira-se o Y e acrescenta-se (-ES):


Ex: Study – studies

- Verbo terminado em (-Y), precedido de vogal, apenas acrescenta (-s).


Ex: Play – plays
- Exceção: Have – Has

Ex: When I was a child, I was afraid of dogs.

SIMPLE PAST

O passado simples é usado para expressar ações no passado, com tempo definido e é
formado por verbos regulares e irregulares, em inglês. O verbo auxiliar é o DID.

1) Regular:

Os verbos regulares são formados por -D, -ED, -IED.


Work – worked Stay – stayed Clean - cleaned
Start – started stay – stayed live-lived

Ex: I cleaned my teeth this morning.


Neg: I didn’t clean my teeth this morning.
Int: Did you clean my teeth this morning?

Alguns verbos recebem uma terminação diferente:


Study – studied
Stop – stopped

2) Os verbos irregulares: Ver lista!

Ex: Caroline went to the cinema three times last week.


Neg: Caroline didn’t go to the cinema three times last week.
Int: Did Caroline go to the cinema three times last week?
Resp. curta: Yes, She Did.
No, she didn’t

PAST CONTINUOUS

O tempo verbal "past continuous" descreve ações ou eventos ocorridos em um


período anterior ao presente, os quais começaram no passado e que ainda estão
ocorrendo no momento da fala. Em outras palavras, ele expressa uma ação
incompleta ou não concluída no passado.
Esse tempo é utilizado:
A) Com frequência, para descrever o contexto de uma história escrita no passado.

B) Para descrever uma ação incompleta que foi interrompida por outra ação ou evento.
Ex.: "I was having a beautiful dream when the alarm clock rang".

c) Para indicar uma mudança de opinião.


Ex.: "I was going to spend the Day at the beach but I've decided to get my homework
done instead".
