EVALUATING MATERIAL

1. Look for a book that is good for a 'Read Aloud' activity in class. (It may be in English or
Tagalog)
* Read-aloud - an instructional practice where teachers and parents read texts aloud to children.

2. To determine if your chosen book fits for this activity, evaluate it and look for the
following components:

2.1. Age appropriate for your target students.


2.2. Appropriate and rich word choice, vocabulary
2.3. Interesting yet predictable plot (adventure, humor, etc.)
2.4. Diverse characters in which students can see themselves and can learn from.
2.5. Use of dialogue

2.6. Relevant to your target students’ interest.


2.7. Genre and format
2.8. Appropriate and striking illustrations
2.9. Develops reading comprehension strategy like visualizing, inferring,
questioning, etc.
