Kite Creator

Name: ____________________________________ Date finished: _______________________

Grade and Section: _________________________ Teacher: Mr. Jm Padre

Directions: Kite Creator

Detective Case IV: Aniplex Kites and Hayao Miyazaki: The Last Key
After successfully completing
Architect Alyana’s task, she melted
Diwata’s necklace and forged you
the key to Aling Anita’s mami-shop.
As you went home, you looked
back at all of the people that you
have helped on your journey
towards finding this special key
that you now proudly wear on
your neck. You hand it over to your
mother, and in an instant, she
beamed with gladness. Your family
started selling their delicious mami once more, and after which, you, your mom, dad,
and siblings went to Aniplex. You have one final task, posted on the gates of Aniplex:

Ten, eleven, twelve, you’ve made it, you’re a hero!

Now, it’s time to enjoy, relax, and stare
At the colorful kites that your family has made for you
Because you’re special and you’re you.

The sign continued… I’m giving you the option to choose! You can create your own
original kite that you can fly with your family, or, you can copy one and try to edit it
as much as you want! Your task is to create your own kite.
You will be creating your own CONCAVE or CONVEX KITE using any art material in
your home or that you currently have right now. Your CONCAVE or CONVEX KITE
may be any of the following:
OPTION 1. Kite made of recycled materials (magazines, glue, sticks, art paper,
colored paper, etc.)
OPTION 2. Digital kite (must be done using MS Word, PPT, Paint, Adobe Photoshop,
Canva, or other graphics software)
CONDITIONS
1. If you choose OPTION 1, there is NO NEED to upload the dimensions and properties
of your kite (you may name it, if you wish), but you DO NOT HAVE TO PROVIDE ITS
NUMERIC PROPERTIES
2. If you choose OPTION 2, the digital kite, you need to set the measurement of its 2
diagonals (Diagonals 1 and 2), its upper adjacent side measurements and lower
adjacent side measurements, the 4 angle measurements in the kite

Sample for Option 2 only (Digital Kite):

Name of Kite: Name of Creator:
Diagonal 1 length Angle measurement
on shorter diagonal
Diagonal 2 length Angle measurement
on longer diagonal
Length of 2 upper Aspect ratio of kite
adjacent sides
Length of 2 lower Angle measurement
adjacent sides of cut opposite angles
on shorter diagonal
Angles formed by Angle measurement
the diagonals of cut opposite angles
on longer diagonal

You may design your kite however you wish so long as it is a CONCAVE or a CONVEX
KITE
For both options, you will need to write a 100-word descriptive/ narrative/
expository essay on the rationale of the design of your kite, and why you chose to
create the designs or patterns that you have applied on your kite

Think critically and creatively for this performance task.

The detailed instructions and rubrics for the PT is shown in the PDF file below. Good
luck and have fun!
Thank you for being a good detective and an awesome budding mathematician!

Note:
Your kite can be as small as ¼ of a short bond paper (like origami), or as big as a
½ illustration board… it’s up to you and your creativity!
If it’s a digital kite, it can be as big as you want it to be (mind the file size, though).
The kite should either be a convex or a concave kite. Please, write your essay
below your submission.
Please, write your essay below your artwork.
Take at least two (2) screenshots of your kite, and paste it on MS word, then
publish as PDF. Good luck and thank you, young artist!
