(ACTIVITY-2)
Topic: Finding zeroes and verifying relationship between the zeroes and its coefficients of a Quadratic
polynomial:
Pre- requisite Knowledge: i) Factorization of a quadratic polynomial by splitting the middle term, using the identities
a2 – b2, ( a+b)2, ( a –b)2
ii) Four operation of irrational numbers.
Method: 1) Factorize using suitable identity or by splitting the middle term
2) Obtain the two zeroes after completing the factorization.
3) Name one of them as α and other as β
4) Find actual α + β and αβ
5) Find α +β and αβ by formula using coefficients.
Observation: Actual value of α + β = value of α + β obtained by formula= ________
Actual value of α β = value of α β obtained by formula=_________
Conclusion: The actual sum and the product of the zeroes of a quadratic polynomial are , same as using formula .
