Activity 2: Describe it
Direction: Complete the name of the government agency in Table A and that being describe in
table B.

Table A Table B
1. Thermometer J. Measures the extent of a given substance’s hotness or
coldness. Mercury is one of the liquids which is overly
sensitive to temperature changes.
2. Thermograph I. This tool records air temperature continuously on graphing
paper during a period in a given area.
3. Aneroid Barometer H. A sealed box (blue, sometimes called an aneroid cell) is
built around an aneroid barometer, which expands or
contracts
with increasing pressure.
4. Sling Psychometer G. A dry and wet-bulb thermometer
5. Hygrometer F. Other instrument used to measure humidity
6. Rawinsonde D. an electronic tool used aloft to determine wind speed,
strain, temperature, and humidity.
7. Hygrothermograph E. Records both relative humidity and temperature on graph
paper in the same manner as the thermograph and barograph
do.
8. 8 inch. rain gauge C. 8-inch rain gauge, so-called because the collector's inner
diameter is exactly 8 inches above a funnel which leads rain
into a cylindrical measuring tube or receiver
9. Tipping bucket B. By capturing a small volume of water in one of two small
buckets, the tipping bucket gauges’ act. Once the rain is
caught, the tips of the bucket are empty.
10. Radiosonde A. The radiosonde is an airborne instrument used in the upper
air for measuring sound, temperature, and relative humidity.

Direction: TRUE OR FALSE

True 1. El Niño is associated with having no rain, hence the fear of drought and consequently
dried-up fields and low water level in dams and reservoirs for domestic, agricultural, and
industrial uses.
True 2. La Niña is associated with heavy rainfall and hazards such as floods.
True 3. La Niña is the counterpart to El Niño
False 4. Thunderstorms can be caused by natural and human activities.
True 5. Storm surge is a localized storm cloud that produces lightning and thunder, and often
brings heavy rain showers as well as strong.
