I. SELF-ASSESSMENT EXERCISE

List some personal examples here of the attributes you would want associated with
"your image as a careful and - dependable person."

The following are the ways I thought of being a dependable person:

a. Responsible. Promises and all agreements should at least remembered and settled.
Taking responsibility to what have said and saying an honest answer in every queries is
important. Being accountable in every “yes” and being polite in saying “no” are some
examples of being responsible.

b. Approachable. Being kind is much appreciated, making the people to trust me begins
in me. When someone is in need, I will try to give my help if I have knowledge on the
matter. In that way, I am showing my image as a careful and trustworthy person.

c. On time. The schedules and deadlines should be followed. Making it on time shows
how I am being thoughtful at the matter and being considerate as well. For instance, me
and my friend talked about an 8 am meet up, in that sense, I have to be at the meeting
place on the said time. If anything goes wrong or I am not able to get there on time, it
may cause disappointment and may lead to being not trusted person.

II.TUTOR-MARKED ASSIGNMENT
i. Explain the major attributes of technical reports.

Base on the lesson, the major attributes of a technical report are:

a. Accuracy. Preciseness is required. Minimal errors can still cause failure in presenting
the report. For example, the data is only talking about a hundred people as a sample but
you mistakenly put an additional zero which makes it showing a thousand people in the
data. In that case, the audience may begin to question the entire report if there is just a
slight mistake.

b. Consistency. Organization of the content is a must. As an example, in the Science report


the first graphs and numbers are basing in meters, however, in the succeeding graphs and
number you were basing in miles which leads to confusion. In that reason, consistency is
taking a role of an organize presentation, for an easier judging and conclusion.

c. Clarity. Having a various capabilities of the audience requires of looking the common
ground in the terminologies and the way of addressing the research topic. Clarity makes
a way in dealing the audience through searching for alternatives.

d. Conciseness. Time is gold. If the audience are having a hectic schedule then brevity is at
rescue. Technical report should have a clear but brief description. On that matter, outline
are better than a long paragraph in certain topics to easily target the major content of the
report.

e. Persuasiveness. Technical report is supposed to pursue the audience with its accuracy,
clarity, and most of all the quality of the report.

f. Interest. Common ground is a worth searching for. Note that the audience are human
too, that is why thinking of the the common need make them interested throughout the
report.

ii. List the types of technical reports normally encountered in science and
technology.

The types of technical reports normally encountered in science and technology are the
following:

a. Occurrence report: which describes a timely event and a formal recording about facts to
an incident. It is about identifying the hazards as well and reporting the possible risk and
how to avoid it.

b. Field trip report: it is written by an engineer, agricultural specialist, or technologist


just back from a field assignment. The content are either the data of geology,
forestry, geography, and other science and technology related.

c. Feasibility report: which develops and analyses an idea or concept and assesses
solutions about certain problem whether it is economically or technically feasible.

d. Investigation report: a document in which issues of the matter are noted that aims to
pursue yet it avoids any hints of bias. Its point is to provide facts that are required to
determine what would be the right action.

e. Evaluation report: a report for informing a management about the conclusions,


recommendations, and findings through the assessment process. It provides
suggestions to introduce improvements or to know matters that need for follow up.
