Colour E– Leaf Green Don’t finish off as we will be working the Bottom fan tail
lengthways from the body along each of the ‘feathers’.
Or substitute with any of your favourite colours.
Starting from the end off row 21, turn, then tip sideways
Body: at 90 degrees.
2nd feather: Start working into the last sc of the 1st tail
feather: sc into the first 3 sc across, then ch 3. SC back
into 2nd ch from the hook, then again into the 3rd ch
from the hook, then sc into the next 3 scs from the beg feathers back to the beginning of the 1st feather, then
of 2nd feather. Sl st into the 3rd sc from row 21. Turn. finish off.
3rd feather: Start working into the last sc of the 2nd tail
feather: sc into the first 3 sc across, then ch 3. SC back
Head
into 2nd ch from the hook, then again into the 3rd ch
from the hook, then sc into the next 3 scs from the beg Start with Colour B
of 3rd feather. Sl st into the 4th sc from row 21. Turn.

4th feather: Start working into the last sc of the 3rd tail

R2: 2sc in each sc of previous round [12sc]
R3: *(2sc, 1sc) . Repeat from * around. [18sc]

into 2nd ch from the hook, then again into the 3rd ch
from the hook, then sc into the next 3 scs from the beg
of 3rd feather. Sl st into the 5th sc from row 21. Turn.

Row 1: Working in the back hump of each chain, sc in
2nd ch from hook and in each chain across. Turn [5sc]
Rw 13: Sl st to the 2nd sc, ch 1. Sc in the same st and in Rw 2: Ch 3, dc in same space. 1 x dc each in next 2 dc,
2dc in next dc, 1 x dc each in the next 2dc, 1 x dc,
each of the next 4sc to the 2nd last sc. Ch 1, turn.
2dc in next dc, 1 x dc each in next 2 dc, 2dc in top
[5sc]
of last stitch. (13 st inc beg ch 3)
Rw 14- 22: Sc in same stitch as beginning ch 1, & in
each sc across.
Rw 23: Turn, Ch 6. Sl st into 2nd ch from hook, then in
each ch back to the beginning: (sc, hdc, dc, dc).
Sl st into 3rd sc along in Row 22..
Again Ch 6, Sl st into 2nd ch from hook, then in
each ch back to the beginning: (sc, hdc, dc, dc). Sl
st into 5th (last) sc in Row 22.

Rw 4: Ch 3, sc in 2nd & 3rd chs from the hook, sc in

How to make up: Turn your little bird carefully inside out through the gap,
fluff out his tail feathers and gently stuff with the polyes-
Step 1: Start with the head and main body. ter stuffing.
With right sides facing and the head tipped upside down,
make sure the beak and the centre circle on the body
(which was Round 1) are lined up and pin in place.
Sew up the gap at the back of his head and hide all
thread ends in his body.
Then while the bird is still partly inside out, pin the back/
top tail section matching the length of the back to the
length of the body.
Pin his wings into position and sew on.
