Technological Change
What is technological change?

 A change in production process which results in increase in output.

 Changes that arises as a result of development and innovation.
Stages in Technological Change

1) Invention- the creation of a new product or process.

2) Innovation- the application of the invention for the first time.
3) Diffusion- how fast others begin to adopt the innovation.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

1. Development of the means of transport.

 Benefit from the new method of transportation.
 Mobility for goods and peoples.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

2. Development of the means of communication.

 Electronic medias improved the way we exchange idea which develop our
society.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

3. Development in medicine and health care.

 Technology has helped in saving many innocent lives.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

4. Development of e-business.
 It has helped business and organizations save time and cost of production.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

5. Improved education and learning process.

 It is used to improve students morale such as smart boards, projectors and
internet.
Positive Impact of Technological Changes

6. Improved methods of agriculture.

 Helped to meet food requirement of people all over the world.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
1. Resource depletion
 The more demand for new technologies and advancement, the more pressure
we put on earth’s natural resources.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
2. Lack of social bonds.
 The more we isolate our self with technology, the fewer bonds will form.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
3. Higher energy consumptions.
 Individual devices are becoming more energy efficient, the increased over all
use in causing high consumption.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
4. Development issues in children.
 Negative effects that technological advancement is far greater than ut comes
to developing the mind of the children.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
5. Increased population.
Negative Impact of Technological
Changes
6. Increased pollution.
 More technology we enjoy, the more we harm our environment.
List of Technological Changes

1. Electricity
Since early discoverers like Benjamin Franklin studied it, and inventors like
Nikola Tesla tested ways to turn it into power, electricity has not only ben fueling
generations but also become an irreplaceable tool of modern life.

2. Semiconductor chips.
It became the springboard for countless other new innovations.
List of Technological Changes

3. Lasers.
Discovered in 1960, lasers were so before their time, scientist were not even
certain where exactly they could be applied. Since then, lasers have found their
way into nearly every sector, from medicine to consumer electronics to
manufacturing.

4. Elevator.
The elevator unleashed a new wave of architecture and the age of
skyscraper. A new invention, the MULTI, the first elevator designed to move
horizontally as well as vertically, is similarly poised to open new paths to urban
planning and building design.

5. Human Genome Project.

No other modern advancement in science has transformed medicine so
radically as the Human Genome Project. Completed in 2003, the HGP mapped
every gene in the human genome. It opened the door to medical studies on genes
associated with diseases and led to a flourishing of biotech companies seeking to
find new applications in healthcare.

6. Smartphone.
Smartphone has become ubiquitous and absolutely necessary for modern
living.

7. Global Positioning System.

First invented in 1973, GPS technology came on the market in 1955. Using
satellites, it pinpoints a location and helps you navigate. More recently, it has
been the cornerstone of a host of smart city and urban mobility.
Population Growth
What is population?

 It refers to a group of organisms of the same kind or specie living in the same
place at the same time.
Population Growth

 It is the change on a population over time, and can be quantified as the

change in the number of individuals of any species in a population sing “per
unit of time” for measurement.
Factors that Affect Population Growth

1) Rates of birth.
2) Death.
3) Immigration.
4) Emigration.
