1. Do you see development of science and technology in the Philippines? Why or Why not?

Yes, science and technology capabilities are fundamental for social and economic progress in our
country. The role that Science and Technology do has played in improving the live conditions across
the globe. Thanks to Science and Technology for helping do our daily routines easier.

2. Identify 3 government policies on science and technology and explain their importance to nation
building.

1. R. A10612-An act expanding the coverage of the Science and Technology the teaching of Science and
scholarship program and strengthening Mathematics in secondary school and for other purposes.1

This act shall be known as the Fast-tracked Science and Technology Scholarship Act of 2008. It shall
strengthen the country's science and technology education by fast tracking graduates in the Science,
Mathematics, and Engineering who shall teach in Secondary schools throughout the country towards
this end, scholarships shall be provided to finance the education of talented and deserving students in
the third year of college and pursuing a degree or training in the areas of science and technology and
to provide incentives for them to pursue a career in teaching in high schools in their home regions.

2. Presidential Decree No.49. s.1972 established the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and
Astronomical Services (PAGASA).

Its function was to provide environmental protection and to utilize scientific knowledge to ensure the
safety of the people.

3. R.A.5207-An act providing for the Licensing and Regulation of Atomic Energy Facilities and Materials,
Establishing the rules of liability for Nuclear damage and for other purposes.

This act was approved June 15,1968 to encourage, promote, and assist the development and use the
atomic energy for peaceful purposes as a means to improve the health and prosperity of the
inhabitants of the Philippines and to contribute and accelerate scientific, technological, agricultural,
commercial, and industrial progress.1

3. Explain the historical timeline of scientific technology in the Philippines.

Based on my own observations of the advancement of science and technology from pre-colonial times
to the present, we are able to use our insatiable quest for knowledge to develop various technologies.
It stresses the ancient people's in ability to provide for their family's requirements, including
medications and other modes of transportation for them to acquire some food, and as a result, they
strive to uncover that allows them to live a more comfortable existence. During the colonial time, I
saw that the Spaniards inspired the majority of Filipino citizens to create infrastructures such as
bridges, roads, and other things that signify the ostentation of one country. And, as science and
technology have progressed, people have become more creative as a result of these sources available
to them, as opposed to the past, when there was a limitation on the production of various chemicals
to produce a specific product, as well as a scarcity of raw materials to create various technologies.

4. Why do you think this subject is included in your curriculum?

Scientific literacy and science-related knowledge are crucial tools for surviving in the news jungle and
for responsible citizenship. They also teach us to be aware of our own behaviors, to critically evaluate
them, and to protect our rights. It is for this reason that science education is so crucial. In today's
civilization, technology, science, and knowledge are critical. Technology and science studies give
students an understanding of how various knowledge processes begin and progress, as well as how
novel technological processes are invented, utilized, and become more important.

5. What intellectual revolution you consider the most influential to the present norm of the society?

The intellectual revolution that I consider the most influential to the present norm of the society is the
Information Revolution. Today, these technologies are used widely which became easier with the help
of the Internet.

6. how do you see science and technology will affect your future career.

Technology. Whether you enjoy every new update or find it difficult to keep up with the changes,
their impact on our daily lives is undeniable. The way we live, and especially the way we work, has
changed dramatically as a result of recent technological advancements. With the job market being
such a competitive and ever-changing environment, choosing a career path requires more than just
following your passions and skills; it also requires being adaptable in this digital age and
understanding which skills and jobs are in high demand and which are on the verge of extinction. It's
critical not to become disoriented or uncomfortable as a result of these quick changes, but rather to
shift your perspective and embrace the chances that technology provides by focusing on the right
skills to improve your employability and flourish in the new tech-savvy workplace.

7. Cite 3 notable development of science and technology and its significant in your community.

- Medical Imaging. Medical imaging is an important tool for clinical analysis because it allows
clinicians to see beyond what is hidden by skin and bone, allowing them to diagnose and treat
diseases more correctly. From X-rays and radiography to MRI scans and ultrasound technology,
technological advancements have all helped to ensure that modern medicine is as minimally
invasive as possible while yet providing the greatest possible outcomes for patients. Medical
imaging is a great example of how science and technology work together to develop one
another.

- Antibiotics. Antibiotics and immunizations revolutionized medicine in the twentieth century,

virtually totally eradicating several once-common diseases like tuberculosis. While ancient
civilizations such as the Egyptians and Greeks used mold to heal diseases, it was Sir Alexander
Fleming who developed the first antibiotic chemical, Penicillin G. Antibiotics have to be in my
top five scientific achievements because of the millions of lives they have saved and continue to
save around the world.

- The Internet. Possibly the most significant technological advancement of our time. The
Internet, a truly remarkable feat of physics and engineering in its own right, has had a huge
impact on science, connecting scientists all over the world and making it easier for them to
share information and research, as well as making scientific resources and papers available to
more people than ever before. The Internet is even assisting in the funding of new discoveries,
such as the ALS ice bucket challenge, which fully funded a number of research studies, including
one that uncovered a novel gene linked to the neurological condition.

8. Which is more given by science and technology. Advantages or disadvantages? Why?

Advantages- because the advancement of Science and Technology enables every people to live in a
modern way of life. Science deals with nature phenomenon on the basis of facts and gives rise to new
technology which makes our life easier.

9. Should the church intervene in scientific activities? Why or why not?

In some circumstances, the church may be able to intervene with scientific operations that have a
significant impact on faith, morality, humanity, and the qualities that religion has taught. The church
has long been thought as a source of religious faith and catechism. As part of any church's
fundamental principles, there are several beliefs and cultural components that are highly preserved.
There are some facts that Science can contradict, and vice versa. They have an equal number of
arguments and fields that may or may not be beneficial to both, as well as specific activities that can
interrelate based on history and tradition. People claim that even before the dawn of humanity, there
was a battle between science and faith. Justifications based on science can be harmful or useful to the
teachings of churches and faiths.

As science and church beliefs and reasoning may vary, I think it's okay that they should focus more on
their own set of beliefs. The reason for this occurrence is if the church intervenes, they would get
backlashes from those who firmly believe in science. It might create confusion between their patrons
and science believers of what truly is right or wrong. More so, science sometimes breaks the ethics
and beliefs of the church. They might go beyond it. But the aim of scientific studies is to improve our
way of life, discover possibilities, and so much more. Just like the IVF (In Vitro Fertilization), this goes
beyond the norm of how we normally conceive a baby. The transition of genders are scientific
activities as well done for the comfort of the individuals who believe that is what is for them but the
church is against it. When against and against tho, that will create chaos in the long run and that's
problematic. These kinds of issues to address can elicit a variety of reactions and acceptance, but the
key thing is that we all derive facts that benefit people.
10. What until actual revolution you consider as the most influential to the norms of the presence
society? explain briefly.

The information revolution is a time of development that could have a profound impact on people's
lives. Computer technology is at the heart of this transformation, and continued improvements in that
technology appear to guarantee that this revolution will have an impact on people's lives. Computers
are one-of-a-kind machines that aid in the expansion of brain power. Computerized robots have
already begun to supplant blue-collar workers; they may eventually supplant white-collar ones as
well. Computers are simply devices that execute sets of instructions known as computer programs, or
software, which are developed by computer programmers. Computers have a lot of advantages, but
they also have a lot of drawbacks. They could assist others in invading one's privacy or fighting a war.
The information revolution ushered in the Internet era, in which optical communication networks are
critical for delivering massive amounts of data. During the last decade, the world has seen
phenomenal network growth, and more is on the way. Due to an increased user population and
Internet penetration, the Internet will continue to develop, bringing previously inaccessible
geographic regions in Africa and Asia online. Improvements in integrated circuits will only speed up
network expansion. Since the middle of the past century, the size of transistors has been halved every
two years. The new internet-based global economy necessitates a high-capacity, high-availability
global network, which is now constrained by underwater optical communication cables.
