合格基準
「総得点が合格点を上回っていること」と「各分野の得点が配点の 25％以上であること」の２つの条件を
満たしている場合、合格と判定されます（合格点は回によって変わります） 。総得点で合格点を超えていて
も 25％未満の得点の分野が一つでもあると不合格になります。これは偏りのない日本語能力を評価するた
めの措置です。

日本語 NAT-TEST の歩み

1989 年、専門教育出版は長年の日本語教材開発の実績をもとに『日本語学力テスト』を開発
し、東京で初めて開催しました。以来、国内外の日本語学校や高等学校で、学内の定期試験や
日本語能力試験の模擬試験として活用されてきました。2007 年、 “中国国内向けの日本語学力
テスト”として中国で最初の『日本語 NAT-TEST』を開催しました（NAT-TEST の NAT とは
Nihongo Achievement Test の頭文字です）。その後、中国以外の国でも開催するようにな
り今日に至っております。本テストの成績証明は、留学や技能実習（介護）のビザ申請時の日
本語能力証明として地方出入国在留管理局へ提出できます。また、本テストは、日本語能力が
CEFR A2 レベル以上であることを証明するものとして、省庁でも利用されております。

The first exam was held in 1989

Passing Criteria
The two criteria for passing the exam are: One must score more than the passing score for the exam, and one must score
over 25% on each section of the exam. If the requirements are met, examinees will be deemed to have passed the test.
(Note: The passing score differs for each exam.) If the score of any section is less than 25%, the examinee fails, even if the
total score reaches the passing score of the exam. This rule is intended to ensure an unbiased evaluation of each examinee’s

 To Become the Most Reliable Japanese Language Test
No dishonest behaviors allowed
Dishonest behaviors such as cheating and proxy test-taking
are strictly prohibited. The following measures (examples)
are taken to cope with dishonest behaviors.

the NAT-TEST. An administration manual is prepared to
carry out a fair and smooth test. All tests are held based on

 Development of Test based on over 30-year Data and Experience
Exam with high quality
Exam questions are developed by veteran Japanese
language instructors. Textbook writers and editors as a
standards-fixing committee strictly check if the questions
conform to the guidelines of questions.
Clear guidelines of questions
Guidelines including vocabulary and kanji are set for each
level so that suitable questions are written according to the
level. For the guidelines, please refer to p.11.
Process of test development
1. Test-writers design questions based on the guidelines.
2. Editors revise the questions and prepare a first proof.
3. The standards-fixing committee checks if the questions
conform to the guidelines of questions.
4. The proofreading committee pretests the materials.
5. The above steps are repeated until the final draft is
completed.
Aggregation of data for every test
All question data are aggregated after every test to analyze
the percentage of correct answers and tendency which will
be utilized in developing the next test.

Advantages of NAT-TEST
1. For preparing JLPT
Adopting the same format as the Japanese Language
Proficiency Test (JLPT), the NAT-TEST is the best mock
exam for the JLPT. Examinees can take the test 6 times or
more per year*, so one can try as many times as he/she can.

3. For visa application
The Institution Score Report of the NAT-TEST can be
submitted to the Immigration Bureau of Japan for the
application of Student visas and Technical Intern Training
visas (care worker). Please refer to “How to apply for
Institution Score Report” for details.

2. For admission application or entrance exam
Using the NAT-TEST as a requirement for admission,
Japanese proficiency and motivation of examinees can be
known before admission and hence, suitable guidance can
be more easily provided to students.
4. For evaluating your Japanese proficiency
Other than Pass/Fail, the general score and a detailed
breakdown of every section are shown on the Score Report.
Taking the test on a regular basis will let examinees know
their strong and weak points.

History of the Japanese Language NAT-TEST

In 1989, Senmon Kyouiku Publishing developed the first Japanese Language Achievement Test in Tokyo.
Since then, the Japanese Language Achievement Test has been used as a regular test and a mock test for
the JLPT in local/overseas Japanese language schools and tertiary schools. In 2007, the Japanese Language
Achievement Test for China, known as the first Japanese Language NAT-TEST, was conducted (‘NAT’ of
NAT-TEST stands for Nihongo Achievement Test). After that, the test has been conducted in other countries
and it has become the current Japanese Language NAT-TEST. The Institution Score Report of the Japanese
Language NAT-TEST can be submitted to the Immigration Bureau of Japan as a proof of Japanese language
proficiency for the application of Student visas and Technical Intern Training visas (care worker). Moreover, the
Japanese Language NAT-TEST can be used as a proof in the ministries of reaching CEFR A2 level in Japanese.
