STUDENT DISCIPLINE POLICY


Students are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively in themselves,
their parents/guardians and the school. It is expected that respect and cooperation will be the
basis of interactions within the community.
A. STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITIES DURING ONLINE CLASS

1. On Security

 NOT allowed to share their password with anyone;


 Reminded to log out after attending the last class;
2. On Punctuality

 Expected to log in the LMS/MS Teams at least five (5) minutes before the schedule of
their class;
 Tasked to follow the established and published class schedule always, therefore any
form of distraction that may cause disruption during the class will never be tolerated;
3. On Attendance

 Required to attend official class meetings. Absence from, or tardiness in class due to
sickness, accident or any other personal emergency is excused only when confirmed by
the parents thru an e-mail sent to the teacher or class adviser;
 Advised to submit scanned/photographed medical certificate/s for absences of more
than three (3) days due to sickness; and
 Encouraged to develop integrity and good online classroom ethics by refraining from
intentional or habitual tardiness, unexcused absences, or acts that can affect the rights
and opportunities of others to receive quality education.
B. ON CLASS BEHAVIOR AND PROPER DECORUM
The students must…
1. Prepare the educational materials required by the subject teacher
2. Wear appropriate attire during the duration of the online class (white shirt with CS
logo, or any plain white shirt);
3. Stay within the frame while the teacher is presenting his/her lesson. As much as
possible, they must do their pre-class routines five (5) minutes before they attend their
online classes;
4. Use earphones or headset to fully understand the discussions;
5. Sit properly during class hours. Strictly no lying down on the couch, floor, or bed on a
supine or prone position;
6. Avoid eating during class hours;
7. Not commit any form of violence with the use of technology or any electronic means
including but not limited to cyber bullying, oral defamation and the likes; and
8. Not use other electronic gadgets aside from the device/s used to connect to the
LMS/MS teams during the class meeting.

ON STUDENT MISCONDUCT
Students should refrain from committing any of the following acts which are categorized as:
1. Minor Offense
- Improper attire (it should be the official white shirt with CS logo, or any plain shirt);
- Improper hair grooming
- No assignment, activities, seatwork and quizzes
- No book (on subjects with required books)
- Eating during class hours
- Repeated non-submission of excuse letter/reply slips (at least 3x)
- Use of 2 or more gadgets during class
- Sleeping during class hours
- Not responding when called by the teacher
- Off camera (4x per subject teacher)
- Tardiness (4x per subject teacher)
- Absenteeism (4x per subject teacher)
Sanctions: for Minor offenses
1st offense – oral reprimand from the class adviser/subject teacher
2nd offense –the parents/guardians will be informed by the class adviser
3rd offense – written warning from Student Discipline Officer
4th offense – virtual meeting with student/parent or guardian (SDO & class
adviser)
5th offense – Service at Home with reflection letter
6th offense –Attend Saturday classes – for deliberation of the Student Discipline
Committee
2. Major Offense
- Lying/giving false testimony/dishonesty
- Disrespect whether in words or in deeds, towards any member of the faculty,
administration, or non-teaching staff
- Assault or serious threat to a person in authority while performing his functions and
duties and undue vexation caused by the student during classes.
- Engaging in vulgar, indecent, obscene or immoral conduct including scandalous
display of intimacy inside and outside the campus while in school uniform.
- Acts that place the name of the school in a bad light such as public malicious
imputation of an act, omission, condition or status or circumstances which tend to
cause dishonor, discredit or contempt to the name of the school.
- Forging or falsifying and/or tampering official records or school documents of any
kind, and using them aware that they are tampered, forged, fake or misleading.
- Cheating in any form.
a. Unauthorized possession of notes or any material relative to the
examination whether the student actually uses them or not.
b. Copying from or allowing another to copy from one’s examination
papers.
c. Talking with another student without permission during class hours.
d. Passing as one’s own work any assigned report, term papers, reaction
paper and the like, which are copied from another.
- Cyber bullying/ Cyber sex
- Participating in or joining indecent shows, films, contests, and the like.
- Use of profane language and verbal assault that result in the humiliation or extreme
embarrassment of another person.
- Malicious name calling, fighting, instigating fights, bullying or threatening a fellow
student.
- Uploading/posting indecent pictures and videos in the internet.
- Intentionally taking pictures and/or videos of persons in authority or classmates,
without their consent, and sending them on various social media platforms.
- Sacrilege/profanation. Any act of disrespect to sacred person, place or object
- Writing/uttering foul, vulgar, abusive languages and ideas.
- Fraternity/Sorority/gang activities inside and outside the school (DepEd Order No. 7,
s. 2006)
- Commission of six (6) minor offenses
Procedure:
1. Initial investigation will be conducted by the Class Adviser/subject teacher.
2. A brief narrative report must be submitted by the class adviser/subject teacher to the
Student Discipline Officer for review. (with the attached narrative report by the
student signed by the parent)
3. If proven, the class adviser will notify the parent/guardian and will be scheduled for
conference with the Student Discipline Officer and Principal/Assistant Principal.
4. Sanction/s will be applied as mandated by the Student Manual for Private Schools on
Discipline.

PROCESSING OF DISCIPLINE CASES

A. Authority to Impose Discipline

1. The Discipline Committee composed of the Principal and/or Assistant Principal,


Guidance Facilitator, Student Discipline Officer, Campus Minister and the Class Adviser
of the student concerned shall be vested with the authority to deliberate on disciplinary
cases and recommend the corresponding corrective measure/s for serious offenses or
violations.
2. The teacher has the authority to impose on-the-spot proportionate disciplinary
measures to students committing minor infractions.
3. Major offenses shall be reported by the Class Advisers to the Rector/Principal/Assistant
Principal/Student Discipline Officer for proper action.

B. Categories of Administrative Penalties

The following categories of disciplinary administrative sanctions for serious offenses or


violation of school rules and regulations which may be applied upon the erring student
are:
- Oral reprimand
- Severe written reprimand
- Written apology
- Public apology
- Community service at home
- Suspension (from one day to one month)
- Exclusion Type A (the respondent is allowed to finish the school year but is
not allowed to re-enroll at the school)
- Exclusion Type B (the respondents’ enrollment with the school is terminated
immediately after the decision and is not allowed to re-enroll at the school.
- Expulsion (the respondent’s enrollment is immediately terminated and is
declared a persona non grata in the school)

Note: The Discipline Committee has the authority to give the lowest average conduct
grade of Not Observed (NO) to students committing major offenses. This is
applicable to all subject teachers but limited to particular observed values.

Discipline Probation (DP) / Strict Disciplinary Probation (SDP) Status


Discipline Probation Status

1. A DP is imposed for 1 (one) school year on a student who has committed a major
offense.
2. A student on DP shall be placed on Strict Disciplinary Probation if he/she is found
to commit continuous violations.
3. Students on DP for the last school year shall not be allowed to run for any
elective position in the Student Council.

Strict Disciplinary Probation

1. Strict Disciplinary Probation is imposed to a student who commits a major


offense for one (1) school year.
2. Students on SDP for the last school year shall not be allowed to run for any
elective position, participate in contests or sports events outside the school.
3. The SDP may be lifted by the Student Discipline Committee upon the
recommendation of the Class Adviser and subject teachers.
4. The school reserves the right to decide a change of environment (look for
another School) for a student who has been recommended for two consecutive
years of SDP.

Academic Probation (AP) / Strict Academic Probation (SAP) Status

1. A student who has been proven unsatisfactory academic performance at the end of
the school year, are placed on Academic Probation (AP) for one (1) school year. Such
probation is considered a serious warning that any subsequent low rating shall be
the basis for Strict Academic Probation (SAP).
2. Students on AP/SAP for the last school year shall not be allowed to run for any
elective position, participate in contests or sports events outside the school.
3. The school reserves the right to decide a change of environment (look for another
School) for a student who has been recommended for two consecutive years of SAP.

On Anti-Bullying Policy

Chevalier School believes that all students have the right to a safe, friendly and healthy learning
environment. It has an obligation to promote mutual respect, tolerance and acceptance.

Everybody should enjoy school equally by feeling safe, secured and accepted regardless of
color, race, gender, popularity/fame, athletic ability, intelligence, and/or religious preference.

What is Bullying?

Bullying is a behavior by an individual or group, usually repeated overtime, that intentionally


hurts another individual or group either physically or emotionally.

What is Bullying Behavior?

Bullying includes; (excerpts from section 2 R.A. No. 10627)

a. Any unwanted physical contact between the bully and the victim like kicking, shouting,
hitting, punching, shoving, slapping, tickling, headlocks, teasing, inflicting school pranks,
pushing, pinching, taking personal belongings, fighting, hair pulling, spitting.
b. Any act that causes damage to a victim’s psyche and/or emotional well-being.

c. Any slanderous statement and accusation that causes the victim undue emotional
distress like directing foul language or profanity at the target; name-calling, taunting,
mocking, making offensive comments, gossiping, excluding people from groups,
spreading hurtful and untruthful rumors, tormenting and commenting negatively on
victim’s looks clothes and body, social isolation or manipulation.
d. Cyberbullying or any bullying done through the use of technology or any electronic
devices like inappropriate text messaging and e-mailing; sending offensive or degrading
images by cellular phone or via social media.

Effects of Bullying

a. It can damage a person’s confidence and sense of self-worth, and they will often feel
that they are at fault in some ways.
b. It can lead to serious and prolonged emotional damage to an individual.
c. It can demonstrate emotional and behavioral problems such as stomach aches,
headaches and signs of depression.

Procedure in Handling Bully Case

1. Students should immediately report any acts or incidents of bullying to proper


authorities (e.g. Class Adviser, School Discipline Officer, Guidance Counsellor/Facilitator,
SSG President and Principal).
2. The Class adviser and the students involved are to resolve their issues/case without
resorting to violence. A narrative report will be written detailing the nature of the
bullying, who was involved and what exactly happened.
3. Upon receipt of report, the School Discipline Officer shall promptly investigate the
nature of the offense whether it is considered bullying, conflict or retaliation.
4. The Student Discipline Committee will take appropriate disciplinary administrative
action depending on the gravity of the offense.
5. The Class Advisers will notify the parents/guardians of the perpetrators and the victims
regarding the action taken, to prevent any further acts of bullying and retaliation.
6. If necessary, a counselling session shall be provided to the victim and perpetrators.
7. In case an appeal regarding the decision rendered to the offense is submitted by any of
the two parties involved, the Discipline Committee will review the merit of the appeal
and the members will come up with the final and irrevocable decision.
8. A record of bullying cases shall be kept on file for future reference.

DISCIPLINARY ADMINISTRATIVE SANCTIONS

 Verbal reprimand, students will be reconciled


 Formation hours, pastoral counselling/session (as needed)
 Suspension
 Exclusion/Expulsion

NOTE: If bullying cases occurred outside the Chevalier School premises, the Student Discipline
Committee, with the representation of a barangay official, and PTA officer, will conduct an
intensive investigation.
