A. Install 7 Blade Swirl Fan Assembly onto the drive shaft until it meets a hard stop against
the generator. Make sure that the teeth on the spline match the mating spline of the Fan
Insert when installing the assembly. See Figure 4.
B. Place the Wave Spring within the hole provided by the Fan Insert.
C. Install the Spring Holder onto the shaft so that it encloses the Wave Spring.
D. Fasten the Spring Holder to the fan using the Double Hex Nut. Torque the nut to 50 in-lbs
using a calibrated torque wrench with a 3/4” socket. See Figure 5 for an exploded
illustration of steps B-D.
E. Install new Fan Inlet Cover onto the generator and fasten using screws. See Figure 6.
F. Apply a “torque stripe” to the end of the drive shaft to identify that the nut has been
properly torqued. See Figure 7 for an example of how a “torque stripe” should be
represented.

1. Take note of the orientation and serial number of the existing ID Plate. The new ID Plate shall be
installed in the same position and orientation.
3. Remove all of the original Drive Screws (discard) and remove the old ID Plate.
4. Mark ID plate with original serial number and suffix letter “M2” (e.g S0001M2 for original serial
number S0001).
5. Place the new ID Plate in the same position and orientation and form the ID Plate to the outside
diameter of the starter generator. Press each Drive Screw in as far as possible by hand.
6. Gently tap each Drive Screw until the screw head touches the ID Plate, and the ID Plate is flush
with the surface of the Starter Generator. See Figure 8.
