Benefits
• Pollution is reduced, providing a cleaner atmosphere. By recycling we help
reduce the damage produced to the environment

• It allows to extend the useful life of landfills, as they fill at a slower rate,
preventing more landfills from being opened.

• Recycling helps to avoid the exploitation of natural resources. Recycling makes it

possible for the original materials to be reused with a new use, without having to
reuse natural resources to manufacture them.

Problems
• There is a belief that recycled materials are of lower quality than non-recycled
ones.

• The combustion process in energy recovery causes a new source of polluting

emissions. It should be an activity with a series of strong controls.

• Energy recovery is not highly recommended since, in reality, the source of raw
materials offered by the waste is not used optimally. Some recycling processes
throw off polluting waste.

1. A car in motion works with kinetic energy, which is energy in motion; To bring a
vehicle to a stop, brakes use friction, which converts this energy into heat.
Modern cars have brakes on all four wheels, operated by a hydraulic system.
When you press the brake pedal, the connected lever pushes a piston into the
master cylinder. This sends hydraulic fluid from the cylinder to the plumbing
system, and then to the larger cylinders, located next to the brakes on each
wheel.

2. Car brake pads are made of non-melting materials:

• Semi-metallic tablets. Composed of metal shavings of copper, steel,
graphite and brass bonded with resin.
• Organic pills. Made up of non-metallic components such as glass, rubber
and Kevlar bonded in resin.
• Ceramic tablets.

The brake discs are usually manufactured in laminar graphite nodular gray cast iron,
although stainless steel and light materials such as aluminum, titanium or carbon and
ceramic are also used.
