Windows Firewall Settings

Check your anti-virus settings. Firewalls will see the data from the network and may stop the
broadcast message. Occasionally a firewall will allow the broadcast message but will stop the high
data rate from the sensor believing it to be a denial of service attack. If this is the case, navigate to
“Allowed Apps” in windows and add permissions to the firewall settings for Seanet Software.

How to add firewall exceptions?

When using certain products or applications, there are cases where the Firewall installed on the
computer will block the application from accessing your network. To resolve this, you will need to add
an exception to the Firewall.

When you add an exception in the Firewall, the port can be used by the registered program(s) and will
be able to receive external transmissions e.g. from another computer or printer. This means that this
port may pose a security risk for attacks via the network. Consider that there is a real risk of a virus
invading your computer. It is the user's responsibility to assess the risk before changing the firewall
settings.
Add an exclusion to Windows Security
If you trust a file, file type, folder, or a process that Windows Security has detected as
malicious, you can stop Windows Security from alerting you or blocking the program by
adding the file to the exclusions list.

1. Go to Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Virus & threat

protection.
2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings, and then
under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.

3. Select Add an exclusion, and then select from files, folders, file types, or process. A
folder exclusion will apply to all subfolders within the folder as well.

Adding an exclusion for a process means that any file opened by that process will be
excluded from real-time scanning. These files will still be scanned by any on-demand or
scheduled scans, unless a file or folder exclusion has also been created that exempts them.

To exclude a specific process, from a specific folder

Enter the full path and filename to the process. For example:

C:\MyProcess\test.exe

This will exclude any files opened by the instance of test.exe that is located in the
C:\MyProcess folder. If there is an instance of test.exe located in a different folder, any files
that instance of test.exe opens will still be scanned.
To exclude a specific process, regardless of what folder it might exist in

Enter just the full name of the process. For example:

test.exe

This will exclude any file opened by the test.exe process, no matter what folder test.exe is
located in.

Viewing and Managing Allowed Inbound Connections

By default, the firewall blocks all inbound connections that are not explicitly allowed. To view the
currently applied firewall rules for inbound connections, go to Tools & Settings
> Firewall> Firewall Rules tab. On this tab, you can do the following:

 Allow inbound connection to a service.

If the service is not shown in the list of rules, click Add Firewall Rule. Specify the rule name for
future reference, then specify the Firewall profile: Domain, Private, or Public, the port and the
protocol for which incoming connections must be allowed. Leave the Switch on the
rule checkbox selected if you wish to apply the rule immediately.

If the service is already in the list of rules, click the corresponding rule’s name and select
the Switch on the rule checkbox.

 Temporarily block connections to a service by clicking the corresponding rule’s name and
clearing the Switch on the rule checkbox.
 Permanently block connections to a service by selecting the corresponding rule and
clicking Remove.
 Restore the default firewall configuration by clicking Default.
 Close down all connections to the server. If your server is compromised and websites are
damaged, you may want to make the server unavailable over the Internet and keep it isolated
until all vulnerabilities are patched and websites are restored from backup files. To close all
connections to the server, click Panic Mode.
