0 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In this modern era, technological entrepreneurship brings together a unique

group of experts and assets in order to create and capture future profits through
collaborative exploration and innovation. For example, there are various technological
products that had been created to ease the users need such that patients in the hospital,
elderly, disabled person or people who needs support of moving to fulfil their needs.
There are various type of wheelchair that had been introduced which brings a lot of
changes in one’s life. Some are using the wheelchair with the guidance of their
caretaker and some are using them using their own help. A lot of caretakers are
having trouble in tracking their custody while they are using the wheelchair alone.
They will need to take extra time to go and find their custody by having to find them
anywhere randomly. If they failed tracking them, they will have no idea how their
custody are doing and where are they at the moment. To avoid from these problems,
this study is conducted to form a new innovation of the wheelchair where it will bring
a lot more functions which is more suitable in this upgraded technology era. This
product is a great product which help both caretaker and the custody to overcome
those problems that they are having.
2.3 Methodology

In order to collect information to succeed this project, a survey had been

conducted via Google Form. The survey is held to collect users’ opinion on our
product where it is distributed to our targetted consumers which includes some
questions that requires minimum time to be answered. All the datas that had been
collected will be used in our project where these datas need 2 weeks to be generated.

Other than conducting a survey, a lot of research and studies had been done in
order to make sure this project works effectively. This product is focused on
upgrading the existed wheelchair where it can solve those problems which stated in
the problem statements.

3.3 New Product Development Process

 New product development is the process of creating and introducing the new
idea, improvement and innovations to a product into the market. The product must be
originally created or modifying the existed product so that it is improved.

3.3.1 Research & Development

Research and development (R&D) is the process by which a company seeks

out fresh information that it can apply to develop new technologies, products,
services, or systems that it can use or sell. Companies and governments frequently
create new items in research and development. The research phase is when a
company's R&D team analyzes a proposed product's viability. This is the process of
discovering new scientific disciplines that can be applied to the development of new
products. Other than that, the development phase involves transforming the found
science into a usable product that the corporation can market and sell..

3.3.1.1 Idea Generation

The act of developing ideas is known as idea generation or ideation. It is a

creative process that entails the production, development, and communication of new
ideas and concepts, which serve as the foundation in a innovation strategy.

As the power of technology nowadays are getting higher, WILLCHAIR is

created to help those people who were born special or people who are not able to walk
to be able to enjoy nature by using our new technology. This product is to ensure the
users to be more independent by being able to control their own wheelchair using the
controller on the wheelchair. This product willing to change the mindset among the
users who are afraid to go outside by having to seek help from their caretaker as this
product does not need to depend on others’ help. Moreover, this product is safe to use
because there will be an application for the caretakers to track the users while they are
using the wheelchair. There will be a connection between the wheelchair and the
application to ensure the users’ safety.
 3.3.1.2 Idea Screening

Other than the idea generation, the next stage in the new product development
process is idea screening. It is based on knowledge from experience and market
research and frequently involves the use of scoring models, checklists, or personal
assessments. The goal of idea screening is to catch and avoid problems early in the
development process. The earlier faulty ideas are abandoned, the less budget is
invested and lost.

It is found that there is no existing product which let the caregivers track the
users while the users are on their self-controlled electronic wheelchair. This product is
the innovation of the existing electronic wheelchairs where the great functions are
combined to create the most functional wheelchair for both users and the caregivers.
There are a lot of wheelchair users tend to stay home or willing to not move as they
are afraid or lazy to control the wheelchair manually. Other than that, there are also
caregivers who are busy to bring their custody outside by needing to control the
wheelchair manually. This product will help them by letting the users to control it
themselve and at the same time their location can be tracked by their caregivers. The
caregivers also can control the wheelchair at home by using our free application along
with the camera and location to track the users.

3.3.1.3 Market Survey

Market survey is a study of the state of the market for a specific product or
service, including a study of consumer wants and interests. It may help you spot
problems before they become major problems as well as predict potential traps that
could put your company in risk. A market survey can provide you with information
that will help you anticipate change and stay relevant. The data gathered will also aid
in the development of new items by allowing better judgments to be made. A survey
had been conducted due to investigate peoples’ interest toward this product.
 Based on the result above, it shows that all 50 respondents agreed that this
product fulfill the users’ needs. It is because this product will bring various functions
to help them complete their daily routines. This product also easy to use where it is
suitable for all ages and it is environmentally friendly.

From the survey, it shows that majority of the respondents would buy this
product immediately if it is available in the market. There are 72% of the respondents
would buy this product if it is available today. It is because this product will help
them in their daily life, not only for users but also help their caregivers in various
ways. The functions that had been applied in this product will bring so many
convenients to both users and caregivers and it is safe to use everywhere. The
technological functions in this product cannot be found on the existed products which
makes it more relevant for them to own this product.
 Moreover, there are 84% of the respondents are willing to replace their current
product with this product since this product comes with more advanced functions
where it combines various functions that had been applied in the current products to
one product. It shows that the respondents are amazed with the innovations of the
products and agreed that this product will give so many help to the users. Therefore, it
is proved that this product are needed and suitable for all ages where it will be useful
toward the users.
