Project Title : CHICKEN LAYER FARMING

2. Project Description :

In terms of economic importance, duck ranks second to chicken as source of egg and meat. Duck raising
is especially recommended in baytowns like those bordering the shores of Laguna de Bay where there
are abundant supplies of fresh water snails which make good duck food. The traditional way of Native
duck farming is through free-range scheme, in which ducks are allowed to graze and scavenge in newly
harvested rice fields which is rich in duck feeds such as rice hull, snails, grass and insects. Under these
scheme, temporary shelter and fence are created using fishnets to allow ducks to rest in the afternoon
and also serves as nesting place and protection from wild animals. Under the free -range scheme, farmer
saves on feeds and housing.
