“Patriotism is not short, frenzied outbursts of emotion,

but the tranquil and steady dedication of a life time.”
Adlai E Stevenson

Value of the month- Patriotism

Value for the month of August was “Patriotism”. Patriotism means love, respect and loyalty towards
one’s country. Children are taught about patriotism so that it is instilled in them, right from a very
young age. They need to learn to be patriotic to their school, family, relatives, friends etc. Instilling
values of patriotism in children will help them to become responsible citizens. The children are the
future of tomorrow’s world, so we need to cultivate them to be a good citizen and they should pass on
these values to the next generation.

Teachers talking to children about values during

lunch break everyday. They say stories about
freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi, Rani
Lakshmi Bai etc.

Children are encouraged

to speak about values
during the lunch break.
This helps the child to
build confidence and also
learn about values of life.

Independence Day Celebration- 15/8/16

15th of August every year is a very special day in the history of India. It is a day where India was free
from the 200 years old Slavery under the British Empire. It is a day when people in India pay homage
to their leaders and those who fought for India's freedom in the past. Indians celebrate this day to
cherish the memories of the freedom struggle, so that we keep this freedom intact with love and
brotherhood.

We at SSRVM, celebrated the 70th year of Independence on 15th August with great splendor, joy and
respect for our Mother India. We started the programme with flag hoisting, March past and a few

Counselling for teachers

Counselling is the skilled and principled use of a relationship to facilitate self-knowledge, emotional
acceptance and growth, and the optimal development of personal resources. To fulfil their roles
professionally, teachers need to be competent in their responsibilities towards their students inside
and outside the classroom. One important teacher role inside and outside the classroom is to
provide guidance and counselling to students.

At SSRVM, teachers underwent a session with our school counsellor Chandini Mehta how to help
students individually or in small groups to deal with the concerns or difficulties they are
experiencing. The need for counselling skills among teachers is a basic requirement that is
integrated in their duties in the development of human behaviour and knowledge. In order to
optimise the help they provide children and their parents, teachers need to develop their
knowledge and skills in the areas of counselling and consultation.
