Japanese influence in Filipino food may not be huge compared to other countries but Japanese Food still
takes a spot in Filipinos heart. Because Japanese colonialized the Philippines for more or less 3 years,
some of the tribes learned how to preserve beans and others making way for our beloved Halo-halo
which has a lot of similarity with Japanese shaved ice dessert called kakigori. And of course, most
households in the Philippines use Ajinomoto. Some also known Japanese Anime make some of us craved
for foods they usually cook like ramen, sushi, yakisoba and tempura.

Indonesian Food

Having the same geographic Indonesia and Philippines almost shares the same cuisine. Indonesia and
Philippines both have Rice on their meals. `Kue Bugis’ from Indonesia and `Suman’ from the Philippines
are both rice cakes cooked and coated with leaves.
Indian Food

The growing number of Indian immigrants and expatriates over the past 50 years in the Philippines has
also helped popularize their cooking making way for our Filipino Curry.
