Foreign culture have made their way into Filipino cooking. If we


try to have a brief look at the history, Filipinos used their hands to
eat. But with the western influence, there is an introduction of
kitchen utensils which later Filipinos adapted their ways.
Throughout the centuries, the country had incorporated the dishes
of Chinese and Arab traders and Spanish and American colonizers.
For as long as anyone can remember, our national dishes
weren’t what we know today. Cooking methods utilized in bygone
days was only boiling, roasting, steaming and grilling. Colonizers and
Traders execute its big role to the alteration of these methods. As the
colonizers take part and rule over our country, they initiate to provide
varied ingredients and spices making Filipino foods enhanced and
evolved. Besides, the repeated business deal between Arab and
Southeast Asian Traders to the Philippines generate a mutual
exchange of goods and services which later Filipinos customized their
own way of cooking into a mixture of Filipino-Western and Eastern
culture. However, colonizers like Spanish and American brought
their native taste which Filipinos instantly followed and practiced to
their own local cuisine.
This adaptations make a point of how Filipinos grant
importance to food as part of their life. Accepting the influence both
from the Eastern and Western country. Giving an emphasize to every
occasions where Filipinos whole-heartedly prepared and manifest
their values as they patronage foreign dishes. The origin of the food
that Filipinos mostly restyle were from this outside influence of
neighboring countries throughout colonial era. On the flip side, this
original Filipino foods were improved that yields into a distinctive and
unique array of foods. Truly, the local cuisine of Philippines blended
with foreign modifications.
I honestly reflect that all of the cooking manipulations were
constantly embraced and practiced by Filipinos in a current time. We
are living most of our lives promoting external culture. Especially we
are into trends and fashion. The notion of emerging new cooking
styles and redecorate the food is for survival purposes. This is to
connect with our primary needs in life. It’s genuinely and aid to the
Philippines in relation to cooking skills that they were being
introduced with those cooking method and techniques to develop
skills. The motive of the continuous alteration of food kinds into a
multiple palette is that Filipinos has a diverse changing taste. But
the big part of this, is the availability of highly-advanced cooking
equipments and tools as well as the productive ingredients drive the
original Filipino cuisine mostly enhancements. Perhaps, Filipinos
were born as an explorer and creative for they keep on generating
modern dishes.
Filipinos effectively utilize the domination of Foreign dishes into
an extra distinctive recipe. This is due to the fact that Filipinos has
sort of taste varied from sweet, spicy, and sour. The mixture of this
taste and flavors that lives within the Filipinos builds their
adaptability to different cooking styles and dishes.
For the most part, the upshot of adapting traders and colonizers
dishes offer Filipinos a privilege to give rise to a productive Filipino
dishes and promote to the world our native cuisine and have a foods
signature to recognize that this is from Filipinos complexity of
creative ideas and has something we are proud of for cooking a
diverse of cuisines incorporated with the outside influences that we
mostly patronage. However, the existence of Original Filipino Dishes
or “Lutong Pinoy” will never become extinct as long as we are aiming
for survival.
