SUMMARY/SYNAPSES

The speech of Ms. Sabrina Ongkiko was quite amazing and very interesting in a way that
you can feel her sincerity and dedication in her profession You can feel her emotion she give in
every word she delivered in her speech she is totally an admirable teacher. It is a speech that
someone should give to his/her student that surely can boost their ability and skills to achieve
their dreams. Looking how she delivered her speech shows how proud she is to be a public
teacher
In the first part of her speech she didn’t articulate there that the student should thank
her/his teacher because of the effort they are doing, but she did was is she thank her students
because she learn something from them. I learned and realized from her speech that “teacher also
learn from his/her student. Im sure that the student of Ms. Sabrina Ongkiko will be more inspire
if they get her speech.
The motivation in her speech is very strong, because that motivation is not something you
could hear easily from a public teacher. Her speech change the views and opinion of other person
about public school, public school teacher and public student. She said that “public school is
hope”, “public school teacher is companion” and ‘public school student is excellent”.
There was a line in her speech that Ms. Sabrina told to herself that “matigas lang ang ulo
ko” she mentioned this to point out how other people judge her in her choose career path despite
of her qualification to teach in private school. I guess it her destiny or a calling to motivate in
delivering her knowledge to those people who didn’t believe in public school. Anyone who will
hear her speech will surely change their views and opinions about public school
“Return on investment “she is pointing out about money in here, but she was trying to
send in here that her return of investment is the inspiration that a teacher can give to her student ,
the feeling of fulfillment she can give to everyone and seeing and sharing those dreams of every
student into reality. A feeling of fulfillment that you become part of success of your student
that’s what we call return on investment.
Appreciation in her last part of speech in the sense that she mentioned some teacher who
are worth of being mention because of their passion in teaching despite of those obstacles in
class. She was pointing out that a public school teacher should be appreciated of what they are
giving to their student to make them better.
Analysis/ Evaluation

The speech of Ms. Sabrina Ongkiko also has it strength and weaknesses like other article
and speech. Those characteristic is the bases of the analyzing and evaluation of the speech.
The strength of the piece is also its weakness. First the strength of the speech is the author
or the speaker treat her/his audience in equal way we all know that she present her speech in
ateneo university she are very careful in every word she said because she is defending the image
of the public school, public school teacher and the public school student from the bad views and
opinions of other like those teacher and parents that their children are sent in private school she
want to change those opinion that the public school are lack of credentials in making the life of
the student better. Another strength of the speech is the content are organized and coherent
because she start the speech with a very good and very interesting quotation that “Studying is fun
learning is joy “in that he make the audience interested and in the last part of her speech she cited
some situation correlated to the start of the speech that situation is when all of her student are
passed in the exam and all of them are clapping related to the quote she cited. Also the speech
leave as a good point it change our views and opinions about public school. The speech also very
relevant on us as a future educator teacher because we came from public school so we should
defend and show to others what a public school student got that we can survive in the field of
teaching. I think the weaknesse of the piece she become teacher because of a calling these calling
is not from God but from her mentor who force him to become a teacher she is not become a
teacher as her profession.
There is a part of the piece that is very interesting for me is when she said to her father
that the return on investment is the student name Darwin because you can see the sincerity in her
face and she is very proud that she become part of the success of her student that investment is
not money it is an inspiration you gave to someone that make them achieve their dreams and
goal
Reaction

The speech is very relatable in our life as a future educator because it can motivate us to
become a dedicated teacher as Ms. Sabrina Ongkiko. In our future when we are in the field of
teaching already we can handle those unexpected situation in the classroom also we can inspire
our student to become a person with dreams and goals in life. If we assign in public school we
can use the method use by Ms. Sabrina to motivate our student that they can also succeed in life
even if they are enrolled in public school by means of inspiring them to become what they want
to be. When I was watching the speech it moved me tears on how she share her experience in the
field of teaching and how much she love teaching in public school it was truly worth listening on
how she pay tribute to her fellow teacher. These speech tell us and open and change our opinion
in public school.
In my own experience as a student studying in public school from my elementary days
until my college days I also encountered those time that I’m being discriminated by my cousin
because I was studying public school he said that I was so slow because I’m attending in a
public school from that time I was convincing my mom that I will transfer from private school
like my cousin but she said that we don’t have enough money also she said that there are also
other student who succeed in life and reach their dreams even if they attend schooling in public
school she said it’s your choice on how you will become not your type of school attending so
from that time I already inspire by those student who are already professional also I was inspired
by my mother and my other teacher who are really inspiring and dedicated in their profession
just like Ms. Sabrina.
