Strengths:
Strengths of Farmer are as follows:
1. The main strength is availability of water and water resources.

3. Good fertile soil can also be one of the most important strength to the famer for
production.
4. Availability of the rapid transportation facility.
5. Cheap labour availability for farm work.
6. Farmer is having sufficient amount of input for production.
7. Gaining benefit from rapidly growing domestic market.
8. Extensive natural resources available for farming.
9. Availability and use of modern and modified tools and equipment in farming.
Weaknesses

Weaknesses of farmer are as follows:


1. Some crop having low yield and high cost of production.
2. Not having proper channel for distribution of farm produce.
3. Low value addition and food processing is major weakness in farming sector
regarding perishable products.
4. Farmer has to face lots of post-harvest losses due to inconvenience of storage
facility.
5. Lack of storage facility results in facing lots of pricing problems as farmer fails to
match demand-supply schedule.
6. Fewer introductions to latest crop varieties.
7. Poor quality of seeds and fertilizer.
8. High involvement of middlemen in marketing of produce.
Opportunities:

1. Raising organic farming can be the best upcoming opportunity in farming.
2. Providing agricultural produce as a raw material to developing agricultural based
processing units at fair prices.
3. Identifying the potential of current market and producing crops that have high
market demand at particular time at particular place (VikelTePikel).
4. Using high yielding and upgraded varieties in farming.
5. Diversification of land being limiting factor to integration of it in high remunerative
enterprises having high benefit cost ratio.
6. Developing FPO and achieving common goals through team work.
Constraints:

1. Land degradation is the biggest constraint in farming. It includes many aspects like soil
erosion, water logging, and many more factors.
2. Climate change results in producing many problems to farming.
3. Severe attack of diseases causes a lot of damage to farming that results in low yield and
declining average production.
4. Size of land holding decreasing day to day due to family separation.
5. Crop loss due to weeds, insects and disease attack.
6. Price risk for marketing commodity.
7. Soils loosing its physical, chemical and biological character.
