Pulse Nightclub Shooting

Pulse Nightclub Shooting is the second deadliest mass shooting in entire U.S
history. It turned a pleasant place of acceptance and joy into a place lled with
indescribable grief and pain. The mass shooting took place on the sad day of 12
June 2016 at the Pulse nightclub situated in Orlando, Florida. A Latin night was
1 2 3
organized on 12 June at the pulse dance club, which is a gay nightclub. A total
of 320 people from the bisexual, lesbian, gay, transgender, queer, straight, and
young community were present over there dancing and enjoying the last call by
the bartender. Then suddenly the mass gun re Erupted. An off-duty police
of cer from Orlando engaged in a gun re battle. This mass shooting killed 49
4
people and left around 50 injured. The gunman was identi ed to be a 29-year-
old man named Omar Mateen. It was out that he has connections with the
Islamic State of Iraq and the ISIS terrorist group of Syria. The shooter was killed
in the back re by the Orlando Police Department team headed by Lieutenant
5 6 7 8
Scott Smith, this team confronted the shooter and he was killed on spot. His
9 10
wife Noor Salman was arrested on the grounds of active participation in the
11
horri c mass shooting but was acquitted of all charges by the federal court of
the U.S. This event left an unforgettable mark in the history of the U.S.

This dreadful event not only left people with haunting memories but came with
12
valuable lessons as well. The team led by Lieutenant Smith entered the chaotic
scene without wearing crucial protective equipment and taking weaponry along
with them. Of cers should have taken a moment to grab the essentials and be
ready for the mission. Of cers should maximize their protection from ambush
13 14
Targets. The Pulse nightclub was not the primary target of the shooter, rather it
was targeted as it has weak security and was a soft target. There was a high
chance of success. One should never compromise with the security, and this
negligence can have fatal results. The critical patients die because they could
15
not get the treatment at the right time. This was because the Fire emergency
services were not allowed to respond to their chain of command to the shooting
16
site. Coordination and communication should be improved between the police
and the Fire Emergency services. The law enforcement of cers could only
transfer fteen to twenty patients to the hospital because of their inef ciency
in accommodating more patients. This delay cost lives of people. The safety
and the ef ciency of the Law enforcement transport system should be
17
improved. Not having a sling to carry a long gun stopped the of cers from
helping the victims. They couldn't work through both hands because they had
18
to move the bulky long ri e. Slings should be provided to the of cers, and it is
crucial to use the weapon.

The Pulse nightclub shooting, also known as the Orlando nightclub shooting,
left pain and fear in many lives, along with loss of life and sheer destruction. It
was one of the dreadful events which impacted the whole community
regardless of their relationship with the survivors or not. The community as a
whole and the society of Orlando learned a lot of lessons from this event. The

survivors were given therapy, and the community gathered in large numbers to
show support and empathy. They even left the whole community wounded.
Indeed the mass shooting event at Pulse nightclub is unforgettable, and it
brought different communities together to overcome the traumas of the event.
The recovery process continues in the community. The question of the
acceptance of violence remains unanswered, yet the hope and togetherness of
the community have improved.
