 Answer the following questions:

 (write one time, leave one line after every answer)

1. Define ecosystem.

Ans. An ecosystem is a community or group of living organisms that live in a

given area, interacting with each other and with their non-living environment.

2. Write a note on respiration in the living beings.

Ans. Respiration is the chemical process that happens within cells to release
energy from food. Humans, animals, and plants breathe in oxygen and breathe out
carbon dioxide.

3. What do you understand by nutritional interdependence between plants and

animals? Explain.

Ans. Plants and animals are strongly connected through their nutritional needs.
The green plants act as producers in the ecosystem. They synthesise food
substances through the process of photosynthesis. All the herbivores like cow,
goat and sheep get food supplies from plants. Carnivores like lion, tiger eat the
herbivores, so these are also dependent on plants.
