Characteristics of Living things:
Interdependence of plants and animals:
Nutritional Interdependence:
Carbon dioxide
and Oxygen
Interdependence:
Interdependence
in Pollination:
Interdependence in Dispersal of Seeds and Fruits:

Squirrels hide seeds and nuts in the ground which result

in growing new plants.
Interdependence in Relation to Aeration and Nutrition:

When earthworms move about in soil, burrows

are formed. These burrows make the soil airy,
enabling the plants to grow more rapidly.

Decaying leaves are eaten by the earthworm and

its faecal matter adds minerals and humus to the
soil which increases the productivity of the soil.
Interdependence for Shelter and defence:

Many insects like beetle, wasps, moth etc. protect their

offsprings by depositing
eggs on plant parts. Beetles live within leaf-tents during
daytime.

Ants build their colonies in underground stems

and hollows of the trees.
Birds build their nests
high up in the trees to
be safe from the attack
of predators.
Symbiosis: Symbiosis means a
situation when two or more
organisms live together
and benefit mutually by their
association.
