1. When did you make the most recent ancient-city travel? and How may the travel
experience and outcomes have affected your life satisfaction? (Total 50 points)

Merke - an ancient sanctuary, a summer residence of the Turkic khans, a

monument of natural and historical heritage and is a mystery for tourists

For the first time, the village of Merke, located at the foot of the Kirghiz Alatau,
was mentioned in the works of Arab geographers in the 9th-10th centuries. Then it
bore the name "Mirki", was considered a city of average size, was well fortified
and had a citadel. According to modern scholars, the city was formed in the 7th
century, its name from the Farsi language meant "center". Mounds - burial
structures, together with ritual temples with statues of ancestors, are located in the
most beautiful mountainous places of the Merken landscape.
The monuments of the ancient sanctuary are spread over 250 square kilometers
and are represented by a large number of complexes of mounds, stone fences and
stone statues that have a cultural identity.
Today, here, in the Merken mountains, you can see steles located everywhere,
there are more than 80 of them. They are located singly within the fence or in
groups in the center of the mounds, outside and outside the fences. We can say
that all stages of the history of the Turks are represented in this place.
This is the city where I live. The Merke region is not only known for its ancient
history, but also for its thriving tourism and its archaeological artifact. At the
moment, there are more than ten thousand exhibits in the city of Merke. The
Merken region was a center of trade in ancient times, as it was located across the
Silk Road.

2. What makes an ancient cities attractive? (Total 50 points)

I think that ancient cities are made attractive by their stories, nature, which has
preserved its beauty, culture and customs, which were observed at that time, as
well as various unusual artifacts and architecture of cities, etc. All this makes the
cities attractive and interesting.
