Idea generation for the Essay:
Understand what the two points of view are, which in
this case is more important for a town ‘shopping
complexes’ or ‘parks and playgrounds’.
You have to evaluate which one is more important and
give reasons for the same.

P1: Introduction Paragraph

Talk about development and how new towns are being
built regularly. Talk about the balance needed in the life
of a person to do everything they wish and pick the pros
of both and which one you would pick.

P 2 : Write about the point of view you favour less

Here you have to write about the one you think is less
important. We write the side we favour less so that P3
and P4 have a continuity of thought. This means that
you can continue to write on the point you favour more
for two paragraphs and it looks more organised and will
get you more marks for coherence and allows for a
smooth thought process for the student. Do not write
any drawbacks of the point you have picked.

P3 Here you write about the point you favour more.

DO NOT WRITE MORE THAN 2 points as you will not be
able to elaborate and explain the same. The point is to
be able to get a band 9 for task achievement. You
should provide relevant examples with whatever you
think are fit.
P4: in this type of essay you should write why the
advantage of your view is greater than the other view.

Some people argue that shopping complexes should give

priority to shopping complexes over parks and sports
facilities. While I understand the above point of view,
there is a lot more for people to gain from introducing
more gyms and sports facilities in a town.

Shopping facilities are the lifeblood of any economy and is

responsible for the employment of a community, from the
construction to maintenance and the people working
inside the complex will employ many. Many who are
employed within shopping complexes have usually worked
in unorganised sectors and a shopping complex gives them
job security and allows them to lead life with more dignity
and relaxation. They also help the growth of indigenous
arts and crafts which can be sold in the shopping
complexes which brings pride to the people.

Sports complexes and parks are a necessity in a

community. They ensure the mental and physical health of
people. People of all ages can use them for various
purposes such as playing sports to just going for a walk
within the park. Parks are a good place for people to meet
socialise. Residents often take initiatives to make such
parks better, thus giving members of the community a
sense of belonging.

Although shopping complexes have certain economic

benefits residents can avail of, it cannot be compared to
the health and mental benefits of a park or sports
complex. Also, with e-commerce, the need for shopping
complexes will soon become redundant however the need
for places to socialise and exercise will always persist.

In conclusion, shopping complexes, though important to a

new town do not bring as much value as a sports complex
or park does to a residential community.
