Sodium Polyacrylate as an artificial fertilizer to rice plant 2

Introduction

Sodium Polyacrylate as an artificial fertilizer to rice plant.

In the Philippines, rice has been recently became more expensive. These study are the cause of

sudden rice increase of value. The rice production became lesser from April to June 2018 than

their respective levels in 2017. In this study, it is shown that the production levels from 3.42%

decreases from 1.44% (Philippine Statistics Authority, 2018). Another study shows that in 2009,

Philippines fed 20 persons per hectare of area harvested to rice. The Philippine population now

is approximately 100 million Filipinos. In this case, only few would eat a regular meal every day,

while the others starve (Rappler, 2015). According to Oikonomia (2015), some causes of rice

shortage are global warming, over-population and natural disasters. So if these continue, rice

crisis will grow and grow.

Studies show that Sodium Polyacrylate can be a possible fertilizers because of its content (EP

Application, 2000). Sodium Polyacrylate has the ability to absorb as much as 100 to 1000 times

its mass in water (Denisarona, 2018). Through this study, readily materials are used to address

the effectiveness of sodium polyacrylate as fertilizer to rice plant.

This study aims at investigating the potential of Sodium polyacrylate: Does the Sodium

Polyacrylate effective to the rice plant, is it possible to grow rice using Sodium polyacrylate,

measured time of the fertilizer to take effect and prove the Sodium Polyacrylate will be a great

fertilizer.

The main objective of this study is to determine the time of Sodium Polyacrylate to take effect

and find if Sodium Polyacrylate is feasible as an effective fertilizer.

The limitations of this study are: 5 months of experimentation and to be conducted in Daet.

Only in Daet, all materials will be gathered such as: rice (to be planted) and used diapers.

The significance of this study are the ones who will benefit: Farmers; the fertilizer will help

them to make their jobs easier by using the diaper gel’s Sodium polyacrylate.

Research Questions

In this study, we will know if the sodium polyacrylate is effective as a fertilizer: Is Sodium

Polyacrylate is effective to the rice plant growth, How safe is it to use Sodium Polyacrylate rice

plant fertilizer, Is there a difference between the other fertilizers and Sodium Polyacrylate,

What is the level of satisfaction in using Sodium Polyacrylate as stand in artificial fertilizer in the

following: Speedy Growth, Affordability, Environmental-Friendly and Hypo-Allergenic, and if it

were feasible to remove that Sodium Polyacrylate + urine from the diaper shell, would it be at

all useful to amend soils for water retention?

Hypothesis

There is no significant difference on the growth of rice plant if we use sodium

polyacrylate in diaper gel as a fertilizer.

There is a significant difference on the growth of rice plant if we use Sodium Polyacrylate

in diaper gel as a fertilizer.
