Greetings in English
There are many ways to say hello in English. Sometimes you say a quick hello as you
are passing somebody. At other times a greeting leads to a conversation. Friends and
family members greet each other in a casual way while, business greetings are more
formal.

The greetings change depending

on the time of the day. For
example, “Good morning” is
generally used from 6:00 a.m. to
12:00 p.m. whereas “Good
afternoon” is appropriate for a
period from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30
p.m. “Good evening” is often
used after 6 p.m. or when the sun
goes down
