THE PHILIPPINE GREEN BUILDING CODE APD.

2017

POLICY

Per NBCDO Memorandum Circular No. 1 (Series of 2016, dated February 02) issued by the Department of
Public Works and Highways (DPWH), The Philippine Green Building Code (“GB Code”), shall form part of the
Implementing Rules and Regulations of the National Building Code of the Philippines (P.D 1096) and be enforced
immediately.

DEFINITION

(CHAPTER I. GENERAL PROVISIONS, Section 6. Green Building Concept)

Green Building is the practice of adopting measures that promote resource management efficiency and site
sustainability while minimizing the negative impact of buildings on human health and the environment.
This practice complements the conventional building design concerns of economy, durability, serviceability and
comfort.

(CHAPTER I. GENERAL PROVISIONS, Section 3. Objectives)

The GB Code is a set regulations setting minimum standards for compliance and not intended to rate
buildings.

1
THE PHILIPPINE GREEN BUILDING CODE APD.2017

The following tabulations shall present selected sections of the code related to building design requirements, alongside existing
Megaworld standards and/or current deliverable, to identify which provisions are yet to be incorporated in projects for compliance.
