What is It

Viewing is a process that supports oracy and literacy, and is part of an


integrated language arts program.
Viewing understands visual images and connects them to
accompanying spoken or written words.

There are various types of viewing materials used in school.

Power point- a software package designed to create electronic


presentations consisting of a series of separating pages and slides.

Laptop- a portable computer that is suitable for use while travelling.

Desktop Computer- a computer suitable for use at an ordinary


desk.

Television- a system that transmits visual images and sound that


are reproduced on screens, and is used to broadcast programs for
entertainment, information and education.

Book- a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn


together along one side and bound in covers.

Magazine- a periodical publication containing articles and


illustrations, typically covers a particular subject or area of interest.

Picture- an image or photograph.

Cellphone- a phone with access to a cellular radio system. It can be


used over a wide area, without a physical connection to a network;
a mobile
phone.

Newspaper- a printed material that is usually distributed daily or


weekly and contains news, articles of opinion, features and
advertising.

Painting- is an image (artwork) created using pigments (color) on a


surface (ground) such as paper or canvas.
