METHODOLOGY
Some important methods for conservation of wildlife in India.

 Habitat management.
 Establishment of protected area.
 Rehabilitation of endangered species.
 Captive breeding program.
 Mass education.
 Promulgation of laws.

 To study it in detail, let us consider some examples of

endangered species

 great Indian bustard

The great Indian bustard is a large ground bird with a height of
about one meter. It is unmistakable with its black cap
contrasting with the pale head and neck. This species was
formerly widespread in India and Pakistan. In 2011 Birdlife
International unlisted this species from Endangered to Critically
Endangered, mainly because it has been extirpated from 90%
of its former range and the population was estimated at
perhaps fewer than 250 individuals in 2008.

 Indian elephant
Elephants are classified as mega herbivores  and consume up
to 150 kg (330 lb) of plant matter per day. The pre-eminent
threats to Asian elephants today are habitat loss, degradation,
and fragmentation, which are driven by an expanding human
population, and lead in turn to increasing conflicts between
humans and elephants when elephants eat or trample crops.
Young wild-born elephants are removed from their mothers in
Myanmar for use in Thailand's tourism industry. Mothers are
often killed in the process, and calves are placed alongside
unrelated cows to suggest they are with their mothers.
