1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

Pre post Train Travel abbreviated as PPTT is a travel guide app which directly aims to serve
people travelling through Indian Railways all around the country.

The app is a combined one in all app that is it has all service required by a traveller through a
train made available on one tap. With PPTT train journey will become a easy and simple job by
allowing user to plan his journey and all the subsidiary services like hotels, cabs and hospitality
services managed in one platform.

We will develop a app which would contain every service like booking a cab for reaching to the
station which will be coordinated with the train timings so that the passenger reaches the
station in time and board his train securely. It will also have bookings for other services like
hotel services, restaurants which are near the station so that passengers coming from different
cities would feel safe of fact that their stay is near the railway station.

2. INTRODUCTION

PPTT is an easy to use app which provides easy services to passengers travelling through
trains. The services include cab services, hotel bookings and finding restaurants.
Currently IRCTC has collaborated with 3rd part app like OLA UBER for cab services but doesn’t
have anything to do with train timings. So PPTT looks and analyze the train timings and
suggest the passenger to book his/her ticket so that he can reach his destination smoothly and
on time.
Other services like hotels are also a big issue to passengers. For every long distance train
there is a pantry car available for passengers to have lunch or dinner or have normal snacks.
But recently Indian railways removed 300 pantry cars and scrapped them and replaced them
with AC coaches. So there is a requirement to provide passengers information about the best
restaurant and on train delivery of food from restaurants near the railways station, and PPTT
does that exactly.

3. BACKGROUND/PROBLEM ANALYSIS

At an average in India, 23 million passengers travel daily which is nearly 0.16% of the total
population. There are 13,169 passenger trains plying 23million travellers from 7349 station
around the country. People often use the offline or online mode which is the IRCTC app to
book their ticket. People often get annoyed submitting the documents like aadhar card, pan
card etc. for verification and checking the ticket status. They also seek problem while putting
the OTP required for login in every time. The main motive of online revolution was to get done
things very easily which is not the case while booking a ticket through IRCTC. IRCTC started
booking tickets online from 2002. Over 28% of the ticked booked in a day are from online
mode.
Recently IRCTC collaborated with Domino’s pizza for delivering food on train. But it was
failures as their used to be lot confusion about the train timing. Passengers always concern
about several problems like the approximate time of arrival of the train, prebooking, fixed ticket
rates. Ticket cancellation is also a tough and confusing job due to a lot of policies like for
example, before 24 hrs. the deduction of money is 70 rupees for 1 st AC, 60 for 2nd AC, 40 for
3rd AC, and 20 for sleeper class.25% charges are cut up to 3hrs for destination under 200km,
6hrs for destination between 200 and 500 km and 12 hrs. For a journey of distance 500km and
above.
For every long distance train a pantry car is available for passengers to have lunch or to have
snacks. But now around 300 pantry cars are going to be scrapped and be replaced with AC
coaches.
By PPTT subsidiary services like food, cabs and hotel will be integrated with railways so that
overall cost will decrease and it will make the journey cost efficient and affordable. Instead of
using multiple applications for different services, passengers will be using single application for
accessing all the services. This will make the booking and train journey easier. Passenger
safety and health during the journey will be ensured by the helpline numbers and their privacy
would be ensured by securing their data. Also the listed details of hotels and cab services
increase the convenience at unfamiliar destinations.
This well-coordinated system helps the passengers to enjoy their train journey. Integral system
will attract a large number of passengers for a well-planned and convenient journey as PPTT
also collaborates with third party apps like Expedia, trivago, Go ibibo, Trip advisor, OLA,
UBER, MERU and other companies.

4. SCOPE \ OPPORTUNITY

PPTT is a platform which allows user to plan their journey seamlessly and with a mentally
peaceful way by making available all the services at one tap. PPTT targets to the problems
faced by the passengers to book a ticket online by making the booking process in just 3 three
steps; search for train, confirm the date, and payment.
With integration of 3rd party app PPTT also targets the problems faced by a passengers prior to
boarding a train like booking a cab according to the traffic factors and to reach the Railway
station within the given time. Finding a good hotel or restaurants near the station will also
become very easy by PPTT.
By the integration with 3rd party app a good amount of revenue will be generated as the
bookings would be done in bulk as PPTT targets the 28% audience who prefer booking the
tickets online and also expanding these market won’t be a tough jobs as PPTT makes the
Train journey exiting and a cup of tea for everyone.

The timeline for final roll out the application across all the country by 3 year plan:-
 YEAR 1: Initial launch will target the metropolitan cities like Mumbai, New Delhi, and
Bangalore.
 YEAR 2: Expanding it to cities connecting to the metropolitan cities and expanding the
collaboration with 3rd part app companies.
 YEAR 3: Final expansion to every corner of the country by mass advertisement and
marketing on a major scale.

6. FINANCIAL SUMMARY

The cost during the initial years will be directed towards the higher side as a greater amount of
employees are required in the development stage.

During 1 month a lot of revenue would be spent in advertisement and infrastructure expenses.
Also a good amount of money would be spent for collaborating with 3 rd party apps.

Our team consists of 20 members who are specialized in various different fields. There are
people who have made lots of apps for different multinational companies and business firms.
We have people who have done their MBA from Harvard and IIMs. There engineers and data
analysts for the technical things.
We have graduates from The National Rail and Transportation Institute, which is the first
university in India which is dedicated to transportation sector and is closely related to Indian
Railways which help to figure things out in a quick manner.

8. CONCLUSION

PPTT is a potential app which can create a huge revolution and can attract more and more
people towards railways. This app attracts every single personal that plans to travel through
train.
If this project moves forward, it can make a lot of revenue and can conquer the market of
bookings and travel guides and make a revolution in the history of Indian Railways.
