many styles. Hip Hop is the new, elegant and strong street dancing form. Hip Hop is typically done in rap,
urban and, not surprisingly, hip hop music as the beginning of locking, popping and cropping. The
dancers are usually worn by funky, high-top dancing footwear. What distinguishes Hip Hop from
numerous other kinds of dance is the fact that his distinctive street dance was a natural free style without a
preset pattern.
Types and Kinds of Hip-hop and it’s Common Dance Terms
1. B – boying (Breakdancing)

B-boying is marked by acrobatic energetic motions, upright movements, and footwork, and is
considered one of Hip Hop’s most unique styles. Dancers frequently use a technique known as
the Freeze to break up their routines.

2. Locking and Popping

Locking and popping, while technically two techniques, generally go hand in hand. Locking
necessitates quick movements, abrupt pauses, and exaggerated gestures. Popping, on the other
hand, is a bouncy style that necessitates the use of high counter-tempo.

3. Funk

Funk, a fusion of Disco and Soul, employs a combination of flowing and sharp movements and is
typically highly choreographed. This dancing technique usually incorporates locking and
popping.

6. Boogaloo

Another fluid-like form, Boogaloo, as taught by Hip Hop dance studios, employs the entire body
flowing smoothly like butter, frequently with the hips, head, and knees rolling.
7. Reggae

If we were to choose a Hip-Hop style that evokes sensuality, we'd go with Reggae because of its
Latin origins combined with more modern Hip Hop motions set to the modern progression of
Reggae music.

8. Lyrical

Lyrical Hip Hop is distinct in that it tells a story and is danced to the lyrics of the music rather
than the rhythm. It is typically more fluid and interpretative than other Hip-Hop genres.

9. Stepping

Stepping is a type of group dancing in which body movements are used to produce percussive
rhythms. This is achieved by:
