IELTS Speaking Part 2 – Describe a person who you think this person is
helpful

You should say:

– Who this person is

– How you know this person
– How this person helps you
– Why you think this person is helpful

Well, when I saw this question, the person coming across my mind is my current
English teacher. He is an old friend of my uncle. At the end of 9th grade, I didn’t
have a grasp of basic E grammar. Therefore, I just got a 3.5 score in the mock
exam at school. My family was so shocked as they never thought that I knew
nothing about English. My mom was especially preoccupied with my study. She
said that at this rate, I couldn’t get a place at a specialized Math class in a
reputed high school. I gradually came to realize that being proficient in doing
math was not enough for me to make my dream a reality. I started tracking down
frantically another teacher who could walk me through these high school
exams . I went through the roof because seeking a good teacher and studying E
from scratch at the same time were out of the question for me, as the time was
limited. There was only 2 months before the official exam came up.
Fortunately, my uncle is also a teacher. She has a lot of friends in high places.
One of her pats is an E teacher. She got on the phone to him and asked if he
gave me a hand in getting a medium score. In the end, he agreed.
One week later, we had a heart-to-heart conversation at his house. I shared my
difficulties in the process of learning language with him. And he also imparted
his stance about the wrong ways of teaching English in school in this day and
age, which can make a lot of students including me lose interest and have some
misconceptions about the importance of language. He advised me sincerely that
I should learn E with the heart because it would be a useful tool in my work life
in the future. He asked if I wanted to reach the pinnacle of success. I said yes
immediately. Then he went to say that if I’d like to succeed, I ought to be fluent
in foreign language. I was enlightened, I figured that getting down to English
was not for the aims of resisting my teacher or the imaginary marks in school,
but for the sake of myself.
From that day onward, I set my mind to E. And then, my E high school result
was beyond my expectation. I was thrilled to the core. Up to date, I still keep an
undying love with E. It actually broadened my horizons and changed my life
dramatically. I’m always eternally grateful to him for giving me the right
mindset about E in particular, and other aspects of life in general. It’s not an
overstatement to say that, he is my true inspirer.
