Description Brigada Eskwela is an annual activity done before the
opening of classes starts. It basically involves cleaning the
school surroundings, repairing, and repainting classroom
walls, furnitures and many more. In short, Brigada Eskwela
signifies volunteerism and inhabiting the spirit of
“Bayanihan” among parents, concerned agencies and
stakeholders in making the school a conducive learning to all
the pupils. However, the pandemic hinders learning in
school but, we are continuing the values of helping one
another amid the COVID 19 pandemic.
Objectives The objectives of the Brigada Eskwela District Kick-Off
Ceremony are the following:
1. Strengthen the harmonious partnership of the school
to its parents and stakeholders.
2. Emphasize the collective efforts in promoting
collaboration between the family, school, and
community in addressing health issues such as
COVID 19 pandemic.
3. Empower collaboration with various stakeholders
and government and private agencies to support the
implementation of BE-LCP.
Highlights The activity highlighted the strong partnership between the
school and the community. The support of the stakeholders
and agencies were manifested as they delivered their
pledges and engrave their signatures in the Commitment
Board

Post Activity Evaluation The activity was a successful and fruitful one as we were
able to gather our stakeholders and head/representative of
each agency together in the start of the Brigada Eskwela in
the District of Pagsanghan. School Heads were also oriented
guidelines of conducting the Brigada Eskwela,
implementation of Adopt a School Program, DRRM, Gulayan
sa Paaralan and Youth Formation Development through the
technical assistance given by the Division Personnel who
witnessed our ceremony.
Methodology
Management of the The activity was facilitated through a planning conference
Activity on August 10, 2021 with the Host School. Dr. Deogene U.
Dapuran, as the head of the planning committee discusses
important guidelines and reminders on the conduct of the
event. Below is the flow of the said activity:

Logistics Arrangement The preparation of the event, meals and snacks were
facilitated by the Logistics Committee lead by Mrs. Elisa E.
Balbuena and with the help of the teachers and Brgy.
Officials. Alcohol, face masks were also prepared to maintain
the implementation of health and safety protocols against
COVID 19.
Recommendation 1. The activity should start on time to keep the program
of activities on track.

Narrative Report

Kicking off on August 16, 2021, the District of Pagsanghan Brigada Eskwela (BE) initiave were
setting the district-based launching to assist the teachers and stakeholders in their respective
ppreparation for school opening and were implemented under the theme “Bayanihan Para sa
Paaralan”

The 2021 Brigada Eskwela is adherent to Deped Order No. 048 s. 2021 (Brigada Eskwela
Implementing Guidelines) which focuses on the partnership and collaboration of the stakeholders to
empower the schools to implement their programs and projects in their BE-LCP. This years’ event
ensures the delivery of quality education notwithstanding the COVID 19 pandemic.

The Brigada Eskwela is the National Maintenance Week that aims to bring together all
education stakeholders to participate and contribute their time, effort, and resources to prepare
public schools facilities for the opening of the school year.

There are benefit that come with Brigada Eskwela, it saves resources on the part of the
school, it builds oneness and cooperation to all stakeholders were their camaraderie among them
develops, the learning of the students is ensured, the cleanliness of the facilities becomes pleasing
and the environment is safe for the learners although, there is no face-to-face classes because of the
pandemic, the school, on the other hand, will serve as the reproduction facility of modules, activity
sheets, and it will also be a safe working place for teachers and parents.

Caloloma Elementary School, as the Host School, took the challenge to kick start the Brigada
Eskwela in the District of Pagsanghan on August 16, 2021. The event started with a motorcade that
runs from Brgy. Caloloma to the población. It was participated by the school heads, BE coordinators,
personnel from LGU, PNP, BFP, barangay officiials and parents. This was to announce that spirit of
bayanihan has already started.

The second part of the program was the opening program. The preliminaries involved the
singing of the Philippine National Anthem, conducted by Mrs. Minerva T. Soria, Master Teacher I and
followed by rendering of prayer by Marry Ann I. Orquia, Teacher III. In the Welcome Message, given
by Mrs. Elisa E. Balbuena, TIC, she gladly stressed that COVID 19 pandemic did not ruin the
partnership and collaboration of every department and agencies, rather, it gathers everyone
creating a community that help one another, one example of this, is the Brigada Eskwela. After that,
Mr. Manuel A. Mardoquio, introduced to the audience the different agencies of the community that
were present and their representatives. The head of each agency in the Municipality of Pagsanghan
from the LGU to the parent-representative of Brgy. Caloloma pledged their support to the programs
and projects of DepEd and it was very heart warming knowing that there all organizations who are
willing to engage and participate in the goals and aspirations of continuing education despite the
threat of the pandemic. The personnel from the Division of Samar also provided technical assistance
to the school heads on different aspects such as Adopt-A-School Program, DRRM, Youth Formation
and Development and School Partnership. Our District Supervisor, Dr. Deogene U. Dapuran,
expressed his gratitude to all the stakeholders and head of the agencies who attended the kick-off
ceremony and he gave emphasis on the importance of collaborative efforts of the school and
community to deliver the goals of the Brigada Eskwela-Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP). Next, was
the Commitment Signing of the stakeholders, BE coordinators, parents, barangay officials as a sign of
their support to the District of Pagsanghan. Mrs. Minerva T. Soria closed the program and
encouraged everyone to sing “If We Hold On Together” as our Community Song.

To ensure the safety of the participants, alcohol, facemasks, and thermal scanner was
prepared on the registration area of the venue. Participants were required to sanitize themselves
and check their temperature before they can enter the hall to ensure that they are safe from COVID
19. Lastly, the activity emphasized gender-sensitivity, no one was harmed nor discriminated in their
capabilities as man or woman, gay, lesbian or bisexual. Everyone fostered respect and camaraderie,
thus, making the event a success.
