Fraud (Part 1)
 
In this video, viewers are presented with a scenario of a trial for fraud. Miss Morgan, the plaintiff, is upset
over an Internet dating service she enrolled in. She alleges that the dating service was fraudulent. The
defendant argues he never intended to deceive Miss Morgan, and that he made all of his service's
policies very clear via a disclaimer on the website.
 
The judge must consider whether the owner of the Internet dating service committed a white-collar
crime. Specifically, she must give a decision for whether the defendant committed fraud against Miss
Morgan. Reread the section in your book discussing fraud. Then watch the video clip to apply what you
learn.
