MY AUTOBIOGRAPHY
My name is Virginia D. Abrogar. I was born on April 21, 2000, in Gat
Andres Hospital Tondo, Manila at 1:14 pm. When I was born I weighed
3000grams or 3kilos. My father decided that my name would be similar to my
grandmother but my mom said she want Allison for me but my dad led. My
parents are Filomeno and Leda Abrogar, and I have four older siblings, Johnson,
Jayson, Edison and Nelson. Of my siblings, I am the only girl and the youngest.
My parents are not strict with me, they allow and support me in everything I do in
my life, that I should be in good works and not break God's commandments.
They let me achieve all my dreams as long as they are here to support me. My
family is our religion is Iglesia Ni Cristo, I was aware that in youth because I was
since childhood was a choir member until now. So my talent is singing and not
very good at dancing. My sport is Badminton.
I attended Magat Salamat Elementary School in Tondo Manila from Kinder

garden until sixth grade. Before entered in this school, I attended in my Church
recommend to take a kinder peace for practicing before entering in school. In
grade school, I was the only quiet one in our class not often participating in any
activity at school or in class. but I do assignments and projects and my grades
are high so I'm just quiet and not very friendly. maybe then in my mind it was just
games but I just wanted to be at home and the only ones I wanted to play with
were my childhood neighbors. My favorite subject was mathematics because I
loved numbers and counting money. And then in our class I was diligent in
cleaning our classroom so my teachers wanted me because I was always in
charge of cleaning. I had Honors in Kinder, Grade 4 and Grade 6 only. In seventh
to tenth grade I attended Gregorio Perfecto High School. I was involved in
Taekwando Training 1 year only. And I participated the activities in this school
because of my friends pursuing me to show my ability and skills for any sports in
their. Since grade seven I was on honors until grade ten. I am the one who first
batch to take a K-12 Curriculum Program. I attended Jesus Reigns Christian
Academy. This is my first time to entering the private school, I am thankful
because only the voucher from the government received them so that my parents
no more difficulty in paying the tuition fee. I a lot of friends here and my teachers
is so kind to their students. I was on with Honors, I got my Medal when I was
graduate here this is my first time that my papa went up on stage to hang the
medal on me.
So when I graduated in Senior High, On March 26, 2018, I took a

Entrance exam in Universidad de Manila, this is the only school I chose, I never
looked for another school. In April 2018 they released the entrance exam passes,
I am sorry to myself that I did not pass. I no longer knew what to do as I found
out I hadn’t passed.It is well known that there is still a reconsideration called,
which can still be accessed with the help of the district councilor. I immediately
walked away with the paperwork that would be needed. Until I was not accepted.
I have lost hope of not being able to enter UDM. It turned out that my older
brother, a professor, had an acquaintance who held a high position at the school.
he immediately approached me to the kind professor. I was immediately helped
to enter. the process is long but I am sure I can get in, Before I could enter I
talked to mama what if I can't enter? I'll just help them with the sales and I won't
study anymore. Mama said she knew, Pray to the Lord God, he will answer your
question. So that's what I did and prayed fervently to the Lord God. and the next
day I was immediately sent to school to choose a course. My choices are
Accounting tech, Business Management and Public Administration. of those
three there are no more Slots for me. The only courses available are Garments,
Food Tech and Social Work only. I immediately said that it was Social Work.
What I have in mind seems easy because its name is Social. When I got home I
immediately researched Social Work. It's like the difficulty is over, I have no idea
what it is. But I have research that is connected to DSWD so I feel I can handle
this. In First year I had a hard time because I really had no idea, I just followed
and listened to the teachers and participated with my classmates so that I would
know how to do it, then until the second year it was very difficult especially we
are already doing Case studies and we already have a client. We OJT with
Missionaries of the Poor. (I miss them, especially my client) we didn't finish our
Case Study with them because of the Lockdown due to the Covid-19 Pandemic,
however I have experienced seeing sick children and elderly there at MOP
especially my client with Cerebral Palsy. Hopefully we can get back there. We
are only in the third year of the Online Class, so it's very boring, because I
haven't even had the experience of going to another place to handle clients.
because of the pandemic I did not experience that. how come this fourth year.
OJT or our Interns are also online. however I will fight for my dream, I will end
and I will end it no matter what happens. As long as I always remember that the
Lord God is by my side to help me in all that I do in life. I no longer aspired to be
a Registered Social Worker because I had a very difficult time understanding
things because of the Pandemic deprived me of in -depth knowledge regarding
this Social Work, but I will be able to graduate and cope with it all.
Regarding my behavior, I am the person who is easy to talk to and

approach, I am friendly with people who are kind, also helpful and not stingy with
people who really need my help. I value people close to my heart and I care
about. I also have a grumpy temperament, rude sometimes but I can handle all
that and I can make myself happy right away. but I'm really a moody person
when no one talks to me I'm a very sad person, because I'm not the talkative
person I want to be talked about. But I'm training myself to be talkative because
social work is the course I took, I will need the power of talkative. My hobbies in
life are watching Movies like K-dramas, Romance, Action and Comedy. I also
play Badminton and Computer games but only once. I always eat so it makes me
fat. I also like to cook anything Dishes, Desserts etc. I drink alcohol but I will
never smoke, I learned to drink because of my friends and my dad is also a
drunkard. so maybe I inherited drinking too. but I don't drink often because it's
bad for my health it hurts my body and my head. I only drink alcohol on
occasions. I help mama when I'm not class day. In Divisoria as a vendor of Street
Foods Like Kwekkwek, Fishballs etc. And they give me a salary that is just
enough for me. because our only income will be paid only for our rented house
and electricity, water bill and also WiFi for the Online Class. I have many dreams
that I want to achieve someday. So for now my dream of graduating I will try to
reach. I have always thinking in my mind to be a good person and to be positive
in all things and deeds. so that the result may be good. and Always pray to God
to guide me further to face all my trials in life.

Reason for Taking up Social Work:
The Reason Why I taking up Social Work course, because I am the one who not
Passers in Entrance Exam in this School, So I decided to passing the requirements for
Reconsideration to be part of a students in UDM. Then My target course in not Available
so that the Social Work Course have a open slots for those students haven’t course. Then
I choose the Social Work Course because I think this is Easy because of the word
“Social”. When the Class started in my mind “OMG this is so Hard Course I don’t know
anything about the lessons they teach” So I decided to continue this because this course is
so really good heart to people that needs help. So now I am Interns I’m Glad to I ended
up in this situation despite of this pandemic I continue to Finished this course and to
Graduate. I hope to passed the board exam.

 Self- My expectation to my self, I’m feeling nervous but I expect to my self is to
give my best for doing the assigns to me. And I always present to all sessions, and

not to be competence, and I expect they always open to all problems from their

Agency for our experiencing to see what they do in the Agency as Interns. I didn’t
expect to much because of the pandemic I will understand but if ever.

will be a understandable to them, and always good heart. It is really hard to me for
communicate to them because of the Pandemic. In online communicate, so I expect
to them, They follow the schedules for our sessions.
Feeling about the Placement:
My feeling right now is nervous and slightly confident because of this new system
of on the job training and it is online, so I think it is hard to me for doing the Case study
of our clients. But I will do my best and full of energy for doing all activities for our
clients and for all session of my clients. I will be friendly to my new classmates and good
in relationship to my professor and also the agency I enter as a interns, and good
communication to my clients. Fighting to my dreams. I will finish this course.

Hi, my name is Virginia D. Abrogar, I'm currently a 4th year at Universidad De Manila
Social Work student. I would like to express my interest in applying for an internship with the
Gems Heart Outreach Development Incorporated This internship required us to complete 500
hours and five caseloads in order to finish the subject Social Work Field Instruction 1 (Agency
Based).
My expectations job at Gems Heart Outreach Development Incorporated, as a Social
Work Interns I will improve the doing of Case Study on my assigned clients. Child, Adult or
Elderly whether that is, I will keep their confidential status. I will always cooperate in all
activities available at this Agency. I will always monitor what I and my client are doing at every
hour of my work and also give me time to update my weekly journal.

III. PRESENTING PROBLEM
According to the client, she is facing now is their financial problem because her
husband lost the job and they are having problems with daily expenses and for her baby
who needs milk and diapers.
IV. BACKGROUND
1. Client
Imee Brocales a seventeen-years-old girl,who is around 5'4" tall and weighs 55
pounds. She was born on October 31, 2003 and she is the second child in the family. she is
residing at Zamora St. Pandacan Manila. She has a long hair, round black eyes and a light brown
skin and she was fat and tall. As the field worker is conversing with her, Imee is talkative and
respectful. According to the client, aside from her education, her primary concern is the care of
her one-year-old daughter.
Imee loves to sing, watch and write. She is the sponsored child of Gems Heart
year 2016 up to present. Before she became a client of Gems Heart she became a client of
another agency that became a sponsored child. after that Gems Heart took her. She mentioned
that she received from the agency such as school supplies, food packs and then she said, she was
getting cash assistance, now she no longer receives.
The client is currently a Alternative Learning System (ALS) student at Bagong

Barangay Elementary School. She shows respect to the interviewer and can answer the question
concisely yet informative. As he talks to the interviewer.
2. Client’s Family (Parents and Siblings)
Aimee’s family is their father and mother have separate house, Aimee lives with
her father. Her father, Nilo Brocales, was born on March 27, 1978 and got married to Carmencita
Bocales who was born December 20, 1977. The couple had a total of 5 siblings 2 boys and 3
girls. The client's father work as Construction worker and only occasionally enters work, last
month was stopped because it only sidelines when someone calls him work he enters it , the one
who works for them to sustain their basic necessities. Aimee had a good relationship with her
parents. His mother had a mild stroke 7 months ago. The client approaches to his mother when it
is a problem every weekend they go home to their mother, and they are always happy and always
bonding. Three of the six siblings are currently studying.
The eldest brother of the client, named Nhil Patrick Balceda, has already stopped
studying because, he already had a live in. The third sibling is Rhaynel Anne is a grade 9 student,
the next is Carmela Brocales is a grade 5 student and the youngest is Nhil Ezikiel Brocales is a
grade 2 student According to the client, all siblings who had a good relationship with each
other. She got pregnant when she was only 15 years old, her son’s father’s name was Jan
Kristopher Antonio and their son’s name was Keilyn Jame Antonio who was one year old. Her
live in partner works as a construction worker supplying their everyday needs. Whenever there is
an occasion they complete family
3. B Client’s Environment (neighborhood, community: physical, social

characteristics, etc.)
Imee Brocales is residing at Zamora St. Pandacan Manila . She’s living with her
father and her relatives. Their house is close to the pharmacy and the barangay hall and school.
Their house is made of half wood/cement and this is their own house, it has a decent roof, and
has enough room for their family. In the event of a disaster, their home is safe. As homeowners,
they have their own bathroom. They own household appliances such as televisions, electric fans,
rice cookers, and irons. The electricity they use is sub-metered and their water source is the
faucet.
In their barangay, there are many residents and houses are reasonably close
together. They have had good relations with their neighbors, and they have not encountered any
issues Then there were but now they are okay. Furthermore, they are not recorded in the
barangay. According to the client, She doesn't often socialize with people today because of the
pandemic. They are the only family bonding because Imee is not inclined to leave the house. As
for the barangay that leads them, it is also said that its management is good, especially now that
there is a pandemic, they are not losing the blessings of food packs.
V. ANALYSIS/ASSESSMENT OF THE PROBLEM
Imee an eighteen-years-old girl, who is studying Alternative Learning System,
she had a child early at the age of 16 years old, and her child is now one year old. Her husband
works for their daily expenses, sometimes her husband loses his job so they are always short of
their daily expenses. When his father was out of work because of illness, his husband helped his
parents to buy food and medicine for them because the Mother also had a mild stroke almost 7
months. According to her, their parents are always fighting because of money, they are always
short of money, because her father does not have a job every day and it is just a sideline not
regular to the construction worker.
According to Abraham Maslow was a renowned psychologist whose biggest

contribution to the field of psychology is the Maslow’s Need Hierarchy theory. He believed that
all human beings strive to achieve satisfaction in life through the fulfillment of certain needs. He
had an intensely sad and unhappy childhood and had to face several hurdles while growing up.
His difficult childhood experiences instilled in him a sensitivity which was often reflected in his
works. Given to his situation, they need enough help for their parents to provide them with a
livelihood so that they can earn a living on a daily basis, and so that they have something to use
for their expenses, or give them enough investment so that even at home they can they have a
hobby of earning a living.
VI. HELPING GOAL
From the month of November 2021 until month of January 2022,
the client will have an update about the progress of her case and will build up herself for
his family and for his self.

he is the third child in the family. He is residing at Munoz St. Malate, Manila He has a short hair,
round brown eyes and a moderate brown skin and he was thin and tall. As the field worker is
conversing with him, Aries is talkative and respectful. According to the client, He has a job it is
delivering in Food Panda Delivery his income monthly is 5000 pesos, he sacrifice to working
because his mother needs take a medicine and his father were the only ones working in their
family. Aries is careful and keeps being healthy due to covid-19 virus spreading in our country.
When he was young, he got an ulcer because He keeps ignoring his stomach if he experienced
hungry, there are times that he become hospitalized since then he is now focusing his self to
become healthy and avoid sickness.
Aries is good in sports such as basketball which he used to play with his friends. He
is also good in dancing as he participated in every dancing contest facilitated in their community
nevertheless, due to pandemic he didn’t exercise it.Aries is the sponsored child of Gems Heart
year 2013 up to present. He mentioned that he received from the agency such as school supplies,
food packs, and hygiene kits that he used for their daily living.
The client is currently a Grade 11 student at Araullo High School (Ahs) and took up
the HUMMS strand. He doesn’t often join Google meet them, because of his job, but sometimes
he can attend. He says his classmates are helping his to understand their lesson and he asks his
parents to understand his lesson. He says, he has difficulty understanding the general mathematics
subject. So his grade is said to sometimes high, sometimes low grades. He shows respect to the
interviewer and can answer the question concisely yet informative. As he talks to the interviewer.
The client family was all living together in one house. Her father, Aris Gan, was
born on September 29, 1978 and got married to Maria Cristina Gan who was born October 26,
1979. The couple had a total of 6 siblings 4 boys and 2 girls. The client's father work as Painter,
the one who works for them to sustain their basic necessities. Aries had a good relationship with
her parents. His mother is have a thyroid nodules almost 3 years and she needs take a medicine
for her pain in tummy in this year. The client approaches to his mother when it is a problem, and
they are always happy and always bonding. Four of the six siblings are currently studying.
The eldest brother of the client, named Aries Joshua Gan, has already stopped
studying. Her second sister, Khrysteen, is a having a live in partner. Joshua and Khrysteen
haven’t a work because of the pandemic. The other siblings currently studying, they are John
Arianne is a grade 7 student, Aries Mathew is a grade 7 student and Airish Francine is a grade 3
student. According to the client, all siblings who had a good relationship with each other.

parents and his siblings. Their house is close to the pharmacy and the barangay hall and school.

requests that support be provided for his mother, for her illness, to get medicine and cure his
mother. Because he and his father was wanting to spend the day needs because they were the only
ones with a job, his sister and brother were fired in job because of the pandemic, so they work
hard for expenses every day and Aries request for his mother to support her that have a Thyroid
Nodules and his mother's stomach often hurts.

contribution to the field of psychology is the Maslow’s Need Hierarchy theory. He believed that
all human beings strive to achieve satisfaction in life through the fulfillment of certain needs. He
had an intensely sad and unhappy childhood and had to face several hurdles while growing up.
His difficult childhood experiences instilled in him a sensitivity which was often reflected in his
works. Given to his situation, through the physiological needs such as need for vitamins need to
be active for his job and schooling, and for his mother needs support for having a thyroid nodules,
give her a medicine or medical assistance to help the client to reduce his expenses and accumulate
sufficient income from his food panda delivery.

and was chubby and tall. As the field worker is conversing with her, Avril is talkative, active and
respectful. Writing, painting, and watching movies are some of Avril's favourite hobbies. Avril
has been a sponsored child of Gems Heart since 2016. She stated that the agency provided her
with school materials each school year, as well as financial assistance, particularly for Christmas
and birthdays.
According to the client, she is a first-year college student at the Technological
University of the Philippines in Manila her course is Electronics and Communication Engineer,
and she assists her brother in his online classes. She says that she did not ignore her studies as a
result of which she did not receive a failing grade. She never seeks his family's assistance because
she is capable of comprehending what she is studying on his alone. She stated that she does not
participate in any of their school's activities.
The client family, Her father and mother were separated, the siblings live with
their father. Their father’s name was Arthur Garcia, was born on April 09, 1973 working as a line
man. When they were little, their father worked abroad so their aunt took care of them while their
father worked abroad.. Their father provides for the basic needs of the day. According to her, Her
mother was able to talk to her but she did not tell her about the problem, only his father could tell
him of his problem.
Her only sibling’s name is Gumrie Garcia born on January 4, 2008 with Cerebral Palsy.
Studying, now grade 5 student. according to the client he helps her with her studies. Her cousins
are who he regularly bonds with. They also have her grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins
living with them. Their relationship, according to her, was happy.

and she also says that her classmates are her only friends not her neighbors.

a messenger because he doesn't have a cellphone to use. Sunny is stopped schooling since
grade 5 almost 5 years he didn’t came in school as told by the woman he always borrows
a cellphone and I think it's his aunt. He want to comeback to school but his problem is he
can’t find the report card from his teacher. His teacher is no longer to be found. The only
illnesses he usually experienced were cough, cold and fever, he had already been
hospitalized because he had a boil on his arm.
According to sunny, he is caring for his grandmother who has
pneumonia. He does not often mingle with people and since pandemic today. Sunny is
the sponsored child of Gems Heart year 2017 up to present. He mentioned that he
received from the agency such as cash allowance, school supplies, food packs, and
hygiene kits that he used for their daily living, and he said that his grandmother only
takes when there is a cash allowance given it is worth 2,500 pesos. According to sunny,
the most trial he has ever experienced was the death of his mother on December 8 2021.

school, and that his teacher no longer attends the school where he was a student.

INTEGRATIVE
This is our first meeting that is through the Online Platform because the pandemic is still
going on this year, and the school did not let their students stop, so through the Internet
it was used to have the student communicate. and the teacher at the so -called Google
Meet where it can all be together and everyone can talk when everyone has the
internet. The Mayor of our city gave us an allowance to help it with our load when we
had class. So we are very grateful to our dear Mayor that their allowance to the
students is a great help for our students at the Universidad de Manila.
While we do not have an Agency we are reviewed by our School Supervisor Ms. Jennifer
Canlas about doing a Case Study and principles as a social worker, and she is already
working with us on the requirements for our agency to enter such as the Resume, Parent
of Consent and others. So that we do not get caught up in our contemporaries in other
block sections. Many thanks to our School Supervisor because she did not let us miss one
of us because she reminded everyone of all the requirements that must be passed on the
right day and time.
There was an Orientation for everyone in the 4th yr of Social Work at the University via
the Internet held at Zoom where more than fifty people could enter who could listen or
join the meeting held. This orientation is a reminder to us how we are going to deal with
everything we do in the Agency we will be entering. And If we do some Case Study and
it also has Group Work required to finish within a semester and also within 500 hrs we
should finish it.
These are the Webinars conducted by the Philippine Red Cross, the PRC is one of our
block section's chosen entrance for OJT thru online, We all submitted resumes so that
they can select six interns for their Agency, just a few weeks they have already chosen
what they will enter in PCR to do OJT, I was not included in the six they chose, we were
included in the Webinar first while we do not have five Agency interns to enter, we were
included in the Webinar to also learn about their Agency.
These are the requirements that must be passed before the trialogue of our chosen
agency, even before that is a month before we can find an agency to enter and it was
presented to us by our school supervisor when Gems Heart was first available because
he worked there or a few years, so we sent a letter to ask us to come in and do an OJT
with their Agency. In making the requirements I will not lose the food in front of me,
because I like to make when there is food in front of me.
This is what we did trialogue with our school supervisor and our agency supervisor. Here
their Agency as well as their mission and vision are discussed. And their holding clients,
their agency is a sponsorship for young people. We five classmates split us, because
there were two agency supervisors, we separated five. We are Ms. Stephanie is together
with a supervisor. In a few weeks, our future Clients will be with us to talk to and make a
Case study report.
This meeting we discussed was about making a Case

Study Report, because we forgot the sequence of
making a case study, we are very grateful to our school
supervisor because he always reminded us and pointed
us to our mistakes, and he corrected us. we are in all we
do. The case study that he presented to us was a great
help for us because we could get ideas for doing case
studies. So what he taught us I followed how to
sequence and it was a big help to me because I forgot
to do it too. Because now online learning is so hard the
adjustment I made, so thanks to my supervisor if it weren’t for him I wouldn’t be able to
make a proper Case Study Report.
Ms. talks to us twice or three times a month. Shiena to

greet our deeds and more than that the questions in
our minds should be asked of her so that we are clear
on what we are going to do. I am also very grateful to
Ms. Shiena because she educates us on our works and
just like she helps us that our other clients don’t
respond to, she makes way for us to talk to our clients.
Gems Heart is having activities for the young people they handle as Clients. And we go
along with their activities. We also want to know how to deal with clients who are 15-20
years old, and we also learn from the activities they do for children. We were instructed
to have a documentary on what was happening during the meeting. We also agree on
the questions that we will answer. We also learned a lot here and we also had the
motivation to talk to the clients we got or they gave.
These are the events before we do the mid-term case conference, only one case study is
presented to us at the case conference, the five of us are together to present our
clients. Our School Supervisor gives us motivation in our struggles and in the problems
we face in life and problems with our clients. He always reminds us of what we will do to
make our Mid-term, Case Conference go smoothly.
Our Case Conference was a great presentation, because of our supervisors we were able
to face all of our trials, so we are very grateful to those who guided us in doing the Case
Study. Even sometimes we don’t ask and we also don’t speak when we are asked.
Maybe it's just because of fear and anxiety in our minds. But nonetheless we are
thankful that we made it all possible.
After our Mid-term, we immediately discussed the

Group Work we would do for clients who had the
same problem that it should be solved in an orderly
manner. Our school supervisor taught us what the
procedures are for making a Group Work Proposal.
The five of us at Gems Heart talked about how to

make the proposal so we could start group work
sessions for the clients we selected and we found
the similarity of its problems, the problem of
similarities is their online problem. platform in their
study so we made it a proposal, our first work was
revised because the agency supervisor was lacking
in our work, so we made a new one and they
immediately disapproved it and we started our
Session for children.
This was the event when we did a Group Work Session for our clients. On the first day
we introduced ourselves one by one and we got along and reminded them of what we
would do in the three sessions. Second day we took a guest speaker to discuss Youth
Leadership it was Ms. MJ who worked with Missionaries of the Poor, he taught our
clients how or what leadership is, so thank you to our guest speaker for hosting us and
our clients. And on the last day of our group work session we asked them what they had
learned and gave them words to leave in their hearts and minds that can motivate their
lives and especially their studies. They are not complete yet, thank you to them because
some of them cooperated with us so that we can get through this group work. I learned
a lot here because there is no need to be shy, because it takes courage to give important
reminders to the clients we handle.
I had a hard time talking to my clients, because what I experienced was that when I
chatted with them they didn't reply, so I waited for a few days for their replies, I am very
grateful to Ms. Shiena because she helped me contact my clients who were not
answering me thru messenger, so I immediately made them a Case Study Report. And I
did a good case study because when we were in midterm we were taught how to
organize our case study so, I followed their advice, so I didn't have any difficulty in doing
the case study with my four clients.
We only presented one Case in our finals conference, Ms. and I. Stephanie is with Ms.
Shiena so we both made it to the Finals, Thanks to our good supervisors for guiding us in
doing our Case Studies and not letting us get caught up in the tasks. And thank the Lord
God because he never let me down in all the trials that have gone through my life and I
hope I can finish it by the Second Semester and I will graduate this Year.
