Summary of Responses
1. Do you think waste management in our school is efficiently carried out and why?
2. Can the students contribute to the waste management conducted in our school?
The participants felt that although the school is quite clean and students do help in
waste management, there is room for improvement in these areas. They also felt
that stationary should be recycled instead of throwing it after use.
3. Do you think the waste management of our school has improved under the covid
guidelines? Explain.
The participants observed that with the ongoing pandemic, the number of students
attending school in person has reduced, thereby reducing the waste generated. In
addition, they believed that the school has focused on providing their students a
clean environment to study and they prioritized the student’s safety.
4. Do you think the waste generated by the students was managed efficiently during
school trips? Please Elaborate.
During school excursions, the students did not litter on the planes, buses, airports
and hotels but instead waited for the opportunity to dispose it off in a garbage bin.
But a few participants believed that some students tend to be careless in their
excitement, but the support staff is efficient in cleaning the waste.
5. In general, do you think schools should conduct waste management activities and
workshops? Please elaborate on the activities held by our school
The participants strongly believed that the school should host more workshops and
activities to empower the idea of efficient waste management. They also observed
that our school has also held recycling activities using everyday items like
newspapers to create bags, plastic cans as planters and composting.
