• Explain what visual
communication is and its impact
on society.
• Correctly identify the Photoshop
environment and the function of
each tool; and
• Accept responsibility for your
role in the visual communication
process.
VISUAL COMMUNICATION
Defined as transmitting
information, thoughts, or
emotions through visual aids so
that they are received or
understood clearly. It may
include illustrations, graphic
designs, typography, etc.
WHAT IS ADOBE PHOTOSHOP?

It is an image editing software developed and
published my Adobe Systems, Incorporated.

It can enhance and manipulate images to


achieve your desired output.
HISTORY OF ADOBE PHOTOSHOP
Thomas Knoll with his brother, John Knoll, initiated the development of Photoshop

THE PHOTOSHOP CS6 USER INTERFACE
Tool Options Bar- displays options for the
currently selected tool.

Panels - displayed the most commonly used


commands available for a particular task. They help
you monitor and modify your work. Examples;
Layers Panel, Adjustments Panel, Mask Layers, etc.

1. L aunch Adobe
Photoshop CS6.
2. Click on each
menu, from File
to Help.

3. Now, position your
mouse pointer over
each tool in the
Tools Panel. Take
note of the name of
each tool as it
appears in the
tooltip. Take note
also of the indicated
keyboard shortcut.

4. Click on the Window > Workspace. Click on Photography. Now, repeat the procedure
and click Typography and then go back to Essentials (Default).

4. Click on the Window > Workspace. Click on Photography. Now, repeat the procedure
and click Typography and then go back to Essentials (Default).

4. Click on the Window > Workspace. Click on Photography. Now, repeat the procedure
and click Typography and then go back to Essentials (Default).

5. Click on Windows > Workspace. Click Reset Essentials to reset this workspace to
values.
6. Exit Photoshop.
