HARDWARE

Lab 5
Pressure control loops (On/Off, P, and PI controller)
Objectives

1. To control the pressure in the Process Control System.

2. To demonstrate the use of ON/OFF, P and PI control of pressure.
Equipment

Edibon Computer Controlled Process Control System

Experiment

A. On/Off Control
1. Make sure both upper tanks are empty.
2. Connect the equipment interface and the control software.
3. Push the START button name the data storage click OK.
4. For graph display, select SP-1 and SC-1.
5. Select CONTROL 2 ON/OFF 1 let pressure as controlled variable by
select pressure.
6. Set the set point = 50.
7. For ON/OFF control, actived Action AVS-1 = 10, and Action AB-1 = 10.
8. Click push button “Saving Data” immediately. To get the data, go to DESKTOP
UCP SaveData. Please copy the file every time the experiment is done.
9. What will happen if the value of the Action AVS-1 and Action AB-1 is reduced?
(please record at least 3 pairs of value).
10. Discuss the answers.

B. Pressure Control Loops (Proportional and Proportional with Integral)

1. Make sure both upper tanks are empty.
2. Connect the equipment interface and the control software. (for details about the
software, refer to the Software instruction on section 7.3)
3. Push the START button name the data storage click OK.
4. Select CONTROL 3 PID 1 pressure.
5. Set the set point = 50; proportional gain, Kc = 2.
6. Click push button “Saving Data” immediately. To get the data, go to DESKTOP
UCP SaveData. Please copy the file every time the experiment is done.
7. ON PID 1
8. ON AB-1
9. Observe the output graph.
10. What will happen if the set point increase to 60?
11. What will happen if the set point is increase? (Please record at least at other 2
different value).
12. What will happen if the set point in increase? (Please record at least at other 2
different value, eg: 70 and 80).
13. Please observe the output graph if the integral value = 0.1 is added.
14. What will happen if the integral value is increase to 0.5?
15. Discuss the answers.
