14th Epilogue. Select chronology. Glossary. Bibliography. Index. This book deals with the role ulema played in the politics of the Indian subcontinent. It covers a period of slightly less than four centuries from 1556 to 1947. It was an effort to portray their activities faithfully and compassionately, because
otherwise it would be impossible to understand them properly. Similarly, wherever praise is justified, it has not been held, because history must pay homage to the greatness of the human spirit of the effort it inspired. The author has no sectarian ties that could underthread his vision. He did not make
statements that were not supported by evidence of facts or procedures of objective logic. (jacket). the trials and tribulations of Muslims in South Asia. Upon his return he played a key role in the founding of karachi university and for many years he was its vice-chancellor. [7] His opponents have criticized I.H. Qureshi, also known as the father of Pakistani historiography, for promoting a right-wing
agenda, a prominent scholar in Pakistani ethnicities, Feroz Ahmed, writes: One of the most popular right-wing 'scholars' of the ruling alliance, I. H. Qureshi, has gotten to the point that Bengali was a different (inferior) race than Western Pakistanis. [8] Membership He was: a member of the Indian and
Pakistani Historical Records Commission, a member of the Board of the Indian and Pakistani Institutes of International Affairs, a member of the Executive Committees of the Indian Historical Conference and the Pakistan Historical Society. continues to be organized by the Historical Society of St. Ishtiaq Hussain Qureshi and has been nominated as one of the founding members of the Pakistan Academy of Letters in recognition of its service to Pakistani languages and literature. [10] The work of his book on the history of the Muslim
