THE SITE
Bhimbetka Caves, the oldest one among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These Rock Shelters feature pre-historic
paintings and oldest are about 10,000 yrs old. The increase in daily visitors and the growing urge for knowing its history, it
demands a need for Archaeology Research Centre.
The site is located near Bhimbetka Caves, Raisen district, 45 km from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. The site is contoured with
forest area surrounding on all sides. There is major access to road on the south side.
The importance of climate, levels interrelation of functions, local materials, structure, construction detailing, separation of
spaces, design aesthetics and open space plays an important part in the overall built environment.
