Position: Videographer/Photographer (Student)

Position Overview

If you are a creative storyteller, driven and innovative, knows to prioritize and works hard, but
still is eager to learn and have fun while doing it, MSA is looking for you! Reporting to the
Marketing and Communications Manager, the student Videographer/Photographer will be
responsible for increasing brand awareness through the creation of digital images and videos.

Organization Overview

The Mohawk Students’ Association is a not-for-profit student-run organization located within


Mohawk College. The MSA provides student representation, value-added student services,
special events, food, beverage, catering and institutional facilities for more than 14,000 fee
paying students. At the MSA, we strive to enhance all students’ college experience through
leadership, support, and advocacy. By nature of the industry, this position provides service to
several different areas of focus throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

 Prepare short social media videos (buzz videos for a 16-30 seconds videos) but not limited d to
create visual images and videos to a while range of creative and technical use.

 Deliver multiple versions of each video, optimized for various social media platforms (eg:
Facebook, Instagram, Instagram Stories, YouTube, etc.) on a deadline.

 Be adept in all areas of video post-production including editing, audio mixing, colour grading,
and mastering for delivery across all social media platforms

 Creative decisions and execution are reflection and elaboration of the Brand vision.

 Create edits that tell stories and encourage audience engagement


 Leverage digital marketing to provide promotional material for marketing initiatives that appeal
to a cross cultural audience

 Coordinate all the elements of a photoshoot/videography in relation to a content editorial –


storyboard and concept brief.

 Research all information required for the videos including but not limited to: Compiling and
creating footage, sound effects, music, and graphics.

 Collaborate with Marketing and Communications team in executing dynamic stories through
photography and videography about the MSA brand for its annual paid and organic campaign
use.

 Attend events, and social activities to capture footage to create videos and content for the CIC
website

Requirements

 Must have access to own equipment to work from.


 In the TV broadcasting program
 Experience in videography, lighting, sound and editing.
 Experience in and familiarity with industry best practices for the entire video production process
including conceptualizing, script writing, location scouting, set-up, casting, filming, editing and
final distribution in various digital formats.
 Demonstrated knowledge of related computer applications (e.g. Adobe Photoshop and After
Effects, Adobe Lightroom etc.).
 Fluency in social media platforms including (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Livestream,
Instagram etc.).
 Experience with still photography preferred.
 Working knowledge of video best practices for web and social media platforms including video
quality, lighting, formatting, style etc.
