Parangtritis is one of the famous tourism object in Yogyakarta.

This beach located on the

southern coast of Yogyakarta, approximately 28 km from Malioboro, especially on Kretek
district, Bantul Regency of Yogyakarta. The strategic location make this place ofthen visited by
local foreign, even countrieis foreign. Parangtritis loaded by history, mystic, and the one that
most important thing is the keindahan alamnya. To reach this place is easy, there are many
common transportation, as a bus, pariwisata bus if you come with your group, or you can use
private vehicles if you come with your family.
The name Parangtritis taken from a man who was meditating on this place, his name
Dipokusumo, from Majapahit Kingdom. At that time, he saw the crevices of the rock that had
dropped by water. And then, he gave name this place Parangtritis. The javanase people said, this
name taken from two words, “ paran ” has meaning coral, and “ tumatitis ” has meaning water
droplet on the rock, so that become “ Parangtritis ”.
This place also believed as a gate of Southern Coast Kingdom, that include the region of
Nyai Roro Kidul, the Queen Of Southern Coast Kingdom. Nyai Rati Roro Kidul always imagine
by pakaian serba hijau, so there is a myth, that everyone who come on the southern coast is
forbidden to wear a clothe with green nuance. They believed when someone come on the
southern coast, they’ll be disappear, kid nup by the queen to become her soldier or servant.
Bacause from the mystic, Parangtritis Beach be a part of embodiment of the unity of the trinity
for The Special Regency of Yogyakarta. Beside that, swim is forbidden on this place, because
the waves its so big. But don’t worry, you can doing many activity beside that, one of them is
shopping on the craft or grocery store.
Regardless from all the mystical thing, this place has a wonderful alam. In the evening
when the sun will be tenggelam, disappear from our sees, when warm breeze change into udara
sore yang dingin and menyejukkan, its so relax right? For the one who like doing some
challenging activity, you can rent ATV. Although, I thought this price is not realiable, but for
someone who very want it, or first time try ATV, it will be realiable, only Rp 50.000,00 – Rp
100.000,00 every a half of hour. You can drive it pass some dunes over the beach from one side
to another side. If you need something that more relax you can try to rent andong, it will bring
you go around the beach. Or if you want to safe your money, you can also walk around to enjoy
the sunset moment, especially if you come with your girl or boy friend, I thought the romantic
atmosphere can improve your relationship.
In the afternoon you can also enjoy the beauty of the beach, you can enjoy warm
atmoshphere, sandy beach, companied by coconut ice, or some snacks. Or you can go to the
Parangndog Hill, located on the southern of this beach, exact border between Bantul and Gunung
Kidul Regency. On this place you can try paragliding and hang gliding. Or you can visit to the
Gembirawati temple, located not far from Parangtritis Beach, about 100 m from coast edge, on
this place you can see the whole of this beach, companied by ferocious roar of the waves who
pass the crefices coral.
 On the west side of this beach, there is a place that filled by mystic power, named
Parangkusuomo Beach, especially on the Cepuri Parangkusumo. At this place you can find pair
of black rock, and smell the fragrance of flowers and incense as the materials of an offering. This
place as evident of Panembahan Senopati and Nyai Roro Kidul met and made an agreement.
