TOEFL independent essay question number one

1- Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People should be fined when they do
not wear masks during a pandemic. Be sure to use details during your response.

In my opinion, it is a great idea that people without mask should be penalized

I feel this way for two reasons,

To Begin with, fining people without mask will discourage them to repeat this action. For
instance, last week, I went out and did not wear mask as result of this police caught me and fine
me money, this is really terrible and taught me lesson that next time I should be careful to
always mask up outside.

2- Only digital textbooks should be available for university students. Do you agree or disagree with
the statement? Make sure that you give specific reason+ supporting details in your argument.

In my perspective, I totally agree with the statement.

I feel this way for two reasons,

To begin with, the first and most important reason is that digital textbooks can help reduce the
number of paper books, which are harmful to the environment. In fact, there are millions of
college students nowadays, and the consumption of books and paper is beyond imagination.

Furthermore, another benefit is that digital textbooks are much more portable than paper
textbooks. Students usually have several heavy books need to brought to the class at the same
time. If they have all of them on iPod, rather than carrying all of them, their life will be much
easier.

3- Explain whether you agree or disagree with the following statement. Every country should be
required to reduce its carbon emission by at least 25%. Then give specific details in your
argument.

I support the idea that countries should be required to decrease carbon emission by 25%

Firstly, reducing carbon will positively save lives in the future. for example, the number of
people dying because of lung related diseases are increase in recent years that means that in
long run too much carbon emission will lead to great loss of lives.
Moreover, carbon reduction will revitalize the environment. Global warming is increasing which
result in loss of many species of animals and plants. Therefore, carbon reduction will greatly
make life better for many species on the earth.
