Math:

1 thing that went well- I think this lesson went well overall for both the challenge lesson and
the regular lesson.

1 thing that I would change- I wouldn’t change anything I think the differentiation went well
because they were similar games where students rolled a dice and doubled the number and
found that number on the gameboard, but the challenge group used a 10-sided dice and
therefore were working with higher numbers while the other groups were using a 6-sided dice
and were working with lower numbers.

Health:

1 thing that went well- I thought the students really enjoyed creating lungs out of paper bags.
This activity was hands-on.

1 thing that I would change- This lesson took longer than I expected, but I should have practiced
that the bag needs to be opened and then it needs to be tightly taped around the straw. This
only took a couple of minutes, but it would have saved some time because most of the students
needed me to help them tape.

1 thing that went well- The students really enjoyed played doubles bingo.

1 thing that I would change- Next time I teach this unit I wouldn’t teach the near doubles
strategy using 10-frames I think this confused the students more than it should have. I think
near doubles made more sense to them when we practiced the worksheet where we said
7+7=14 so 7+8=15, 6+6=12 so 6+7=13, etc.

Science:

1 thing that went well- The students really enjoyed the hands on activity where they got to
build cars as a group.

1 thing that I would change- Make the groups beforehand based on students’ strengths and
have them design their cars the day before they build them. We were going to design the cars
the day before, but ran out of time. I would also pre-cut the egg cartons and the cardboard
paper rolls.

Math:

1 thing that went well- I think the students really enjoyed the race to 100 board game that they
played in partners. Students rolled the dice, doubled the number, and moved that many spaces.
This way it connected back to doubles instead of just moving the number of spaces that come
up on the dice. I let students choose partners today and I said that if you don’t have a partner
come and talk to me and we will find you a partner. I think this worked well so no one feels left
out.
1 thing that I would change- I stopped the partner 100 board game at a good time before bingo
started, but I should have explained what bingo is and how to play bingo as a review (some may
have never played before or have played different variations like we have done in math this
week). I wrote B I N G O out on the board and wrote the numbers underneath each letter as
they were called this worked better than writing:
I 27
B4
The students needed the numbers written underneath each letter for a visual to look at.
