Questions:

1. If you were a friend of Sammy, what would you tell him?

If I were his friend, I would tell him to continue his business even though he has a
new competitor, because it's really normal in the world of business to have a competitor.
Competition is Sammy’s motivation to improve his strategic mindset to improve his
business plan since he is giving services to people.  It doesn't matter how many
competitors arise and are willing to turn you down, but rather you should reflect on
yourself and think twice on how your business can survive in this situation. Find out on
how to improve yourself as an entrepreneur, think, look and find out the uniqueness of
your business. Is it really improving? What's your advantages and disadvantages from
other competitors?
So, some of those questions will have a big impact on you, because like what
every businessman and businesswoman said, "establishing a business is a big risk, it
will take a year to become stable and sometimes it become successful". You will
experience all the struggle and challenges in life, and realize that it was a test, a test
that you should pass in order to see what is its ultimate result. Before Sammy's
establish his own motor repair shop, he learned how to care and the maintenance of
electromagnetic 
installations in cars because he noticed that every car operated with electronic systems
installed in them. 

2. Is Sammy's situation hopeless? Explain.

No, he really has an advantage and plan. Before he established his business, he
gathered all relevant information that would be necessary to make a business plan. He
is well educated and has a positive vibe. There's hope in Sammy's situation, but he
became complacent that he would have no competitor. So, Sammy will need to learn
from all his mistakes and reminisce about all the sacrifices he made for him to reach
what he is reaching now, as a result of his efforts.  Not the new open motor repair shop
will bring him down, because he is now an entrepreneur, he manages and learns all the
possible outcomes and what can happen when he enters the world of business. He
learned and gathered all the information needed for his business plan.
Since the type of his business is service, it will be easy for him because he
already studies those new elements and maintenance about electronic systems
installed in different models of cars. "Sammy, now that you have a competitor you are
aware of what will be happening for the next week, months and years. So, from that you
need to be a strategic man with full of courage and ability to compete why? Because if
you don't have an advantage in the business you are running, you will really lose money
and everything you have. 

3. What did Sammy miss regarding his business plan?

Sammy should know the swot analysis/matrix which means strategic

management technique or the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. Even
though he became complacent. So, when the threat came to him, he seemed to have
weakened and his feeling was that his regular customers were going there because it
was just newly opened and his customers were thinking that maybe the service there
would be better than their service. He missed the swot analysis, which is the strength of
his business, like what is the big advantage of his business from others? For example,
he uses a telephone in his office and a handy phone on him so that if the customers call
him for unexpected happenings he is on the run, this kind of strategy is really a big help
to improve their services.
Then the weakness, what would he improve about his business like his people or
employee, service and operation, the vibe, the price and etc. Next is opportunities, his
big opportunities are his business has lasted for almost four years, his customers
already know him, his income has also increased and their services has become better.
And lastly is the threat of having a competitor. This is really a normal scenario in every
business that you have to compete with others but in a strategic way of competing.
Competitors are a threat that you need to overcome in order to survive in the business
industry. Sammy needs to be wise, to be smart, have a strategy, and be open to the
suggestions of others for the good of the business. You are not the only one to act and
think, you must also be open minded to the possible suggestions of your employees.
Because you know what they think is the welfare of your business, and of course
their own because if Sammy's business goes bankrupt, his staff will be miserable
because they will lose their jobs, won't they?
