Laboratory Activity for Fitness Testing

By the end of the laboratory, the learners should be able to:

 Identify essential components of fitness testing

 Prepare the environment for fitness testing

 Perform different assessment tests for fitness, accurately and efficiently

 Interpret results of fitness testing tests according to recent evidence

Mechanics of the Activity:

1. Get a housemate.

2. Answer the Par-Q and You screening tool. You should check your housemate answers to determine if
she/he should be excluded from the activity.

3. Prepare the environment for the assigned fitness test. The goal is to create stations for each component of
the assessment test.

4. You should document his/her performance on the worksheet.

STATION 4: V-SIT TEST

Result: 76 cm.

Procedures:

 Client removes shoes and sits on floor with the measuring line between their legs with the
soles of their feet placed immediately behind the baseline, heels 8-12" apart.
 Clasp thumbs so that hands are together, palms facing down and placed on measuring
line.

 With the legs held flat by examiner, the client slowly reaches forward as far as possible, keeping the
fingers on baseline and feet flexed.

 After three practice tries, the client holds the fourth reach for three seconds while that distance is
recorded.
 Make sure there are no jerky movements, and that the fingertips remain level and the legs flat.

STATION 5: GROIN FLEXIBILITY TEST

Result: ___20___cm.

Procedures:

 Client sits on the floor with knees bent, and feet flat on the floor and legs together.

 Let client’s knees drop sideways as far as possible while keeping the feet together. The soles of your feet
should be together and facing each other.

 Client should on to his/her feet with both hands, and pull the ankles as close to the body as possible.

 Measure the distance from the heels to the groin.

Normal Values for Groin Flexibility Test:

STATION 6: CALF FLEXIBILITY TEST
