SARS-CoV-2, better known as COVID-19 worldwide virus outbreak that took the lives of many.

It
was first discovered in Wuhan, China in the year 2019. Experts have said that Covid-19 started
from the consumption of a virus that lives in the bats and was accidentally consumed by a man
that then developed into this deadly virus that’s been passed on to person-to-person and
infected hundreds of countries including Philippines. Though there is no clear evidence to the
real cause of this, it is now considered as a history of being one of the most fatal infections we
ever experienced.

COVID-19 has a rapid growth and transfer from one host to another which makes it deadly and
dangerous for the masses; the main target area of the virus is the respiratory system which is
why it is more fatal as it blocks the airway for oxygen that is needed for breathing and circulation
of blood in the body. It can also infect the neurological system of a person which is already a
rare case for those who are infected. Severe cases with this are pneumonia, severe acute
respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death. The diagnosis for this virus is through the
symptoms of cold, fever, dry coughs and other respiratory symptoms. The virus is contagious
and can be passed down to another host through droplets that are produced by an infected
person which makes it easier to spread out. That is why, in order to at least mitigate the spread
or slow down the spread of the virus, most countries imposed strict lockdown measures.

The changes and adjustments made from the COVID-19 virus made a great impact on
everyone's lives. Everyone we see in the streets are trying to keep themselves protected by
wearing safety gear even though they may be uncomfortable and staying a couple of feets from
each other. Those who are not privileged enough need to find better shelter and protection from
the virus. Businesses shut down, retrenchment and unemployment increased, source of income
for many has been a problem during the times of difficulty. Students like me had to adjust with
online or modular classes where learning is less fun. Basically, everyone needs to adjust and
move forward even if time seems to run so fast. Many lost their lives and their loved ones, many
are still recovering and have recovered, many are still probable to get infected, but many are still
hoping for better days against Covid-19.

Activity 2

1. I find both effective. The KWL Chart is much simpler than the other which makes it
easier to use in any academic text during class activities. It uses “What I know”, “What I
want to know”, and “What I learned”. It is simpler to label your reading through the use of
the said strategy. However, I find SQ3R Strategy much more effective for me. It allows
me to understand my reading better as it consists of challenging and various steps which
I personally prefer. It also enhances my reading skills and comprehension plus
researching skills better. I can also evaluate my readings through the use of SQ3R
strategy.

2. SQ3R has the components and steps that are effective for me to learn and gather information
in a context. From surveying, it helps me to learn better about the topic and get the central
ideas and meaning of the text that I am reading. Questions as a guide during reading is also
helpful because it helps me get to the every point of the context and remember it better while I
am Reading. Reciting the information I gathered is also effective for me as it retains in my mind
longer and I can understand my readings better when I verbally express them. Lastly, Reviewing
is a good strategy to memorize and familiarize the texts better. Basically, SQ3R enhances my
reading and comprehension skills better which is why I find it more effective to use during
readings.
